Summary

As the Straw Hats flee Egghead aboard the Elbaf giants’ warships, the colossal Void-Century Iron Giant (Emet) sinks beneath the waves, scattering Marine ships, and — as it goes under — longs aloud for Joy Boy (“Want to see you… You were there, Joy Boy…”). Around the world, people debate why Vegapunk’s broadcast cut out and whether the genius was assassinated. On Egghead, York reports to the World Government that only two Vegapunks still live (Lilith and Atlas, located via the Punk Records access count); the WG resolves to keep York but eliminate “no other geniuses.” The giants — Dorry, Brogy, Oimo, Kashii and others (Bjorn, Sig) — haul the crew, the dead Stella, and “Daddy” (Kuma) aboard while a monstrous bird-form Five Elder gives chase and sets the sails ablaze. Bonney, watching Luffy’s Gear-5 Nika drum-rhythm float the burning ship over the water, uses her own “Distorted Future” to manifest her free self — a Nika-like form — and the giants cheer “Two Nikas!!” In a paired flashback Kuma vows to a dying Ginny that he will raise her daughter. At the chapter’s end the sunken Iron Giant creaks awake to “a strange presence” — “There…” — as the liberation drums beat on.

• Bonney’s “Distorted Future” can be cast on herself. Her free, “most free” self is a Sun-God-Nika-coded form (“That’s what I look like when I’m free!!”). The giants react to “Two Nikas!!” / “Giants in white?!” (pp. 11-13).
