Sun God Nika

What we know

• Ch. 1192 (p.10): an Elbaf giant argues Luffy “has taken the form of a god… that Elbaph has awaited throughout its history.” Usopp rejects the framing entirely on the same page — “People compare him to Nika or Joyboy… or even Roger, at times!!! …No, I don’t!! I don’t care!!” ⚠ Record it as asserted by the giants and DISPUTED by a Straw Hat in the same breath — the Nika-as-Elbaf’s-awaited-god reading does not harden into a vault assertion. HARD GUARD: the Nika / Joy-Boy identity resolution is untouched. • Ch. 1018 (pp. 11-12): The Sun God Nika is a figure slaves “in the long-distant past” prayed to — a legendary warrior they believed would one day free them, bring smiles to their faces, and deliver them from suffering. Whether he existed or was a dream is left open on-page (“Did he exist, or did they dream him up?”).
• Ch. 1018 (p. 12): shown only as a leaping/dancing black silhouette backlit like a sun — the legend has no depicted face or named identity in-window. (Hence first_appearance: is blank — named, not shown.)
• Ch. 1018 (p. 14): The World Government suppresses the legend. The prison guard who told it to Who’s-Who was “disappeared” days later, and Who’s-Who came to fear that merely knowing the legend was deadly. See The World Government Disappeared The Prison Guard Who Spoke Of The Sun God Nika.
• Ch. 1018 (p. 13): the legend is explicitly tied to fish-man slavery and Jimbe’s Sun Pirates (freed slaves whose history “is the history of slavery”) — folding the sun-as-liberation motif into the worshipped-Sun-God register.
• Ch. 1045: The awakened fruit’s combat is shown at length — toon-physics, environment/opponent rubber-transfer, a drum rhythm that sustains the form, and the surroundings “turning all white.” The fruit’s name is not repeated this chapter (named Ch. 1018/Ch. 1044). • Cross-reference, not a Nika citation: Ch. 507 pre-dates the Nika legend’s on-page introduction by 500+ chapters, but Luffy’s own definition there — “the one who is the most free… is the Pirate King!!!” — is the strongest textual anchor for reading his later liberation/Nika alignment as personal, not just destined.
