Summary

At Punk Records, the wounded Kaku drives the traitor Stussy off before Lucci can reach her — “a cold-blooded colleague whom I respect, maybe… but once Lucci gets here, I won’t be able to stop him!! JUST GO!!!” — and the weeping Stussy flees. Off Egghead’s coast the Straw Hats run for open sea aboard the Elbaf giants’ viking ship while a winged Seraphim harries them and the island burns. To repel it, Gear-5 Luffy (mistaken for a second Nika alongside Bonney, whose Age-Age Fruit has reshaped her into a Nika-like form — “two Nikas?!”) grabs the bird and has the crew and giants whale on him with Haki — Sanji (“Ifrit Jambe, Hell…”), Franky, and Bonney punch him until he inflates into “Gum-Gum Dawn Balloon,” which rockets the Seraphim away (“it’s gone!! and it can’t come back!!!”). Across the world the broadcast flickers back to life — at Whole Cake Island and beyond, “it’s back on!!!” — because the transmission snail’s memory and mental waves run on separate circuits, so the Five Elders’ jamming caused only a temporary break; to truly silence it the snail (housed inside Emet) must be destroyed directly. Then a colossal ancient construct erupts around the escape: it spits the fallen Cipher Pol agents, rubble, and the Seraphim out of its mouth “like a fountain,” drags the ship backward with suction, and charges — the panicking giants cry “monster!!”, “the boar!!”, and finally “ROBOOO!!!” On seeing Gear-5 Luffy it utters “Joyboy…!!” A Void-Century flashback names it at last: “Remember, Emet… only when the time is right…” — and its colossal fist crashes down (KA-BAMM). Bonney collapses from her transformation (“I can’t… freedom is tiring…”). “Time is right?”

New reveals

• The iron giant has a name: EMET. The chapter title and a Void-Century flashback voice (“Remember, Emet… only when the time is right…”, p. 13) name the ancient construct on-page for the first time. (Etymology already catalogued: Hebrew emet = “truth,” the golem-animation word — see Iron Giant Emet.)
• Emet was given a time-gated directive — to act “only when the time is right” — a deliberate, deferred purpose set during the Void Century. The watching giants echo it back confused: “Time is right?” (p. 13).
• The broadcast resumes worldwide. The 1117 cut was only a temporary break: a transmission snail’s memory and mental waves run on separate circuits, so jamming the waves merely interrupts — the message comes “back on!!!” (pp. 9).
• To stop the broadcast the snail must be destroyed directly — the Five Elders are told as much; the snail is sheltered inside Emet, so their attacks can’t reach it (p. 9).
• Kaku spares Stussy. He chases off his fellow CP0 mole before Lucci arrives, knowing he won’t be able to protect her once Lucci is there (p. 2).
• “Gum-Gum Dawn Balloon” — Luffy lets the crew/giants Haki-punch the Gear-5 form into a giant balloon to launch the Seraphim out of reach (pp. 4–8).
• “Two Nikas.” Bonney’s Age-Age Fruit Distorted-Future form reads as a second Sun God Nika beside Gear-5 Luffy; the giants worship the sight (“NIKAAA!”), then realize it’s “just an illusion of the Age-Age Fruit” (p. 3).

Open questions raised

• Who instructed Emet, and what is it meant to do “when the time is right”? Has that moment now arrived (it moved the instant it saw Joy Boy in Luffy)?
• Is the “monster / boar” construct that spit out Cipher Pol the same entity as the robotic “ROBOOO” fist (i.e. all Emet), or are there two ancient machines in play? (The giants’ confused labels suggest one bizarre construct they can’t classify.)
• Why does Emet keep addressing Joy Boy, and apologize/respond to the Nika form?
• Now that the broadcast is provably un-killable without destroying the snail inside Emet, can the Five Elders finish what they cut off — or will the rest of Vegapunk’s “D” message air?
