Where are they, who controls them, what do they actually do?

The question

Where are the three Ancient Weapons — Pluton, Poseidon, Uranus — and what exactly are they?

Etymology — the god-named triad (earth / sea / sky)

The three weapons are a closed Greco-Roman cosmological set, each named for the god of one of the three domains:

WeaponGodDomainIn-series binding
PlutonPluto / Plouton (Hades)underworld / death / buried mineral wealthwarship buried/sleeping underground; “named for the god of death” (Ch. 0193); “one shot can vaporize an entire island”
PoseidonPoseidonthe seaa living being who commands the Sea Kings (Shirahoshi)
UranusUranusthe sky / heavensdeployed from on high onto Lulusia by Imu (Ch. 1060)

The triad is earth(underworld) → sea → sky = death → ocean → heaven. Pluton’s selection as the death/underworld member is itself foreshadowing: it pre-keys the weapon to mass-extinction firepower and to being buried (Pluto rules what is under the earth). Crocodile’s Ch. 0193 on-page gloss — “Named for the god of death, it was the most terrible weapon of the ancient world” — is the series’ first explicit confirmation that the weapon-names are not arbitrary but encode their gods. Sources: Hades/Pluto; Ancient Weapons.

Leading theories

All three needed in concert to either destroy or save the world

Vegapunk’s “sinking world” reversed by deploying them together.

Uranus is the Empty Throne / Mary Geoise itself

Imu weakens leaving Mary Geoise (Ch. 1179) — Uranus is place-bound.

Pluton claimed by the Straw Hats

Franky inherited the blueprints and will be the wielder against the WG.

Poseidon raises the sunken Ancient Kingdom

By commanding Sea Kings — fulfilling the Fishman Island promise.
