- The second half of the Grand Line — the ocean on the far side of the Red Line, 'the end of the ocean' — is named on-page for the first time: the NEW WORLD (Koby to Luffy, pp. 7-8).
- Navy battleships cross the Calm Belt by strapping SEA-PRISM STONE to the hull; it emits 'the same energy as the ocean,' so the Sea Kings (Neptunians) mistake the ship for the sea itself and ignore it (Koby/Helmeppo overheard by Nami, pp. 4-5).
- Dr. VEGAPUNK lore: the World Government's premier scientist discovered HOW devil fruits confer their powers, and as his 'biggest project from last year' developed technology to feed a devil fruit to an INANIMATE OBJECT (pp. 6).
- AOKIJI has secretly protected Robin since Ohara: 20 years ago he 'continued where [Saul] left off' and helped her escape the island; Jaguar D. Saul 'was a close friend of mine' (pp. 16-17). He had intended Enies Lobby to 'end the story of Ohara once and for all,' assumed Robin had a death wish ('a ticking time bomb'), and now tells her to live and 'prove to me that Ohara is still alive' (pp. 17-18).
- WHITEBEARD (Edward Newgate) appears on-page for the FIRST time, aboard his ship in the New World (p. 19): 'That little punk. He better have brought some good booze.'
- The FOUR EMPERORS (Yonko) are named on-page for the first time: the Gorosei are told that 'one of the Four Emperors, Red-Haired Shanks, has broken through our lines in the New World' to make direct contact with Whitebeard (p. 19).
- Koby's dream declared: he vows to become a Navy Admiral and the one to catch Luffy; the two agree to meet again in the New World (pp. 8-10).

Summary
In the aftermath of Enies Lobby, Vice Admiral Garp punches Luffy goodbye at Galley-La HQ and leaves the Straw Hats unmolested as a “favor.” Nami secretly wiretaps a Navy Den Den Mushi and learns how battleships cross the Calm Belt — Sea-Prism Stone on the hull tricks the Sea Kings — and overhears how Dr. Vegapunk discovered the mechanism of devil-fruit powers and built tech to feed a fruit to an inanimate object. Outside, Koby and Helmeppo say farewell; Koby names the far side of the Grand Line — the New World — and vows to become an Admiral and meet Luffy there again. A massive party erupts at the Galley-La pool with the Franky Family, the giants, Iceberg, and Sniper King. In a quiet alley, Aokiji confronts Nico Robin: he reveals he was a close friend of Jaguar D. Saul and has shielded Robin’s life since Ohara out of duty to Saul, challenging her to live and “prove that Ohara is still alive.” Finally, at the Holy Land of Mariejois the Five Elders learn that “Red-Haired” Shanks — one of the Four Emperors — has broken through their lines in the New World to seek out Whitebeard, who agrees to receive him.

Open questions raised
- What does Shanks want to discuss with Whitebeard so urgently that he’d punch through a Yonko’s territory for it?
- Who else is among the Four Emperors, and what is the New World like?
- How far does Aokiji’s quiet protection of Robin go, and where does his “lazy justice” diverge from the Government?
- What are the full implications of Vegapunk’s “fruit fed to an object” technology?
