  • Kuma, a will-less Pacifista slave, rampaged through the Holy Land of Mariejois 'the previous day,' climbing to the top and breaking free, hell-bent on reaching an unstated destination
  • Fleet Admiral Sakazuki personally fought the rampaging Kuma ('Hellhound') and could not stop him; Kuma escaped Mariejois
  • Kuma 'volunteered to be reborn as a weapon of war' (re-confirms his free will was his own choice)
  • Kizaru has known Vegapunk for a long, long time and does not want to kill him, but follows the assassination order
  • Kizaru knew Bonney as a child ('Look how big you are now, Bonney'); an assassination order now also covers Bonney
  • Franky and the satellites' giant escape robot Vegaforce-01 is completed, then destroyed by Kizaru
  • The Egghead team crack York's lockout code so the Frontier Dome barrier can be lowered for the escape
  • Luffy is knocked through the barrier twice by Kizaru and returns as a giant Gear 5 fist

Summary

Two timelines intercut. At Mariejois, “the previous day,” the will-less slave Kuma rampages through the Holy Land — soldiers cry that “the invincible slave has returned” and that he is “hell-bent on reaching his destination, whatever that is.” Furious Celestial Dragons (one whining that the rampage left Mariejois out of lobster) demand his execution, and Fleet Admiral Sakazuki confronts him: “you lost your free will long ago… then where do you think you’re goin’?!” Sakazuki lands his magma Hellhound (“at least you bleed like a man”) but cannot stop Kuma, who breaks out of the Holy Land. As Sakazuki muses “a mere puppet with no mind or will left… where would you go?”, the narration recalls that Kuma “volunteered to be reborn as a weapon of war,” and an off-screen voice (Bonney) refuses to believe it — “he would never leave me behind!! Liar!” Meanwhile at Egghead, Marines secure the island and order the sea-beast weapons destroyed while Luffy (Gear 5) duels Kizaru, demanding why he wants to kill “the apple man” Vegapunk; Kizaru admits he has known Vegapunk “a long, long time” and does not want to, then kicks Luffy clean off the island (“Acceleration is power”). Kizaru destroys the just-completed escape robot Vegaforce-01 (Franky and the satellites’ “robot of dreams”), recognizes a grown-up Bonney (whom he knew as a child), and tells her there is now an assassination order on her head too; Bonney attacks with Age Skewer. At the control tower, Usopp and the team crack York’s lockout code so the Frontier Dome barrier can be lowered for the escape. As Kizaru presses the Vegapunk side hard, Luffy — knocked through the barrier and back again — returns as a giant Gear 5 fist, thanking Kizaru for “knockin’ me all the way down.”
