The Sun God the Shandians pray to is Nika (confirmed Ch. 1018Ch. 1044) — is the series’ false-god / liberator-god cycle a structural pattern that predicts the endgame?

Created 2026-06-09 (maintenance pass, frontier 467) as the Thread spine for the god-evidence previously scattered across ~15 Foreshadowing notes and the lore hub Gods and Divine Figures. The hub holds what the world IS (confirmed pantheon inventory); this Thread holds the unsolved questions.

The question

  1. RESOLVED — Who is the Shandians’ Sun God? A sincerely-worshipped deity is prayed to in the 400-years-ago Jaya flashback (Ch. 287) — the first god in the series anyone worships rather than claims to be. Named on-page as Nika (Ch. 1018; full identity confirmed Ch. 1044 as Luffy’s Devil Fruit, the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika — see the Forward-canon checkpoint below). The residual open sub-question is narrower: is Nika the same figure as Joy Boy, or a distinct legend that only overlaps with him (tracked at Joy Boy Identity), and does the Shandians’ 400-years-ago worship encode any detail beyond “liberator” that the modern Nika reveal hasn’t yet accounted for?
  2. Is the false-god / liberator-god cycle a series-wide pattern? Skypiea runs a complete cycle on-page: a surveillance-theocracy pretender (Enel) deposed by a laughing, dancing liberator (Luffy, bonfire silhouettes Ch. 253/Ch. 300). If the cycle is structural, it predicts future arcs — and the endgame — re-run it at larger scale.
  3. Why does the world’s center monopolize divine framing while sincere worship survives only at the peripheries? The lost age named its weapons for gods (Ch. 193, Ch. 301); the Kami office was abused as a land-grab warrant (Ch. 292); Elbaf’s war-god and the Shandians’ Sun God live with the marginal and the dispossessed. (Pattern stated at the hub; why is unanswered.)
  4. What god does God Valley name? Forward-canon place-name only (Rocks and God Valley) — but a place named for a god is a divine-pattern datum waiting for its referent.

Leading readings (≤467)

The Sun God is the identity behind Luffy’s fruit

The silhouette + sun-iconography + parallel-arc-structure stack already counts 4+ independent techniques at 467 — the The Prediction-History Ledger threshold for load-bearing foreshadowing. The Shandians’ Sun God and the dancing liberator of the bonfire splashes are the same figure-shape.

The divine pattern is structural and predictive

Every “god” on-page is either a political title / self-claim to be punctured (Buggy, Enel, the land-grab Kami) or a sincerely-worshipped deity of the periphery (Sun God, Elbaf’s war-god). If the grammar holds, later arcs re-run it — and the world’s apex (the WG’s divine framing, the god-named weapons) is the cycle’s final pretender.

The weapon god-triad and the sun-god lattice are one cosmology

Earth/sea/sky (death/ocean/heaven, Ch. 193 gloss) plus the sun — etymology-driven; partially on-page. Tracked at Ancient Weapons §Etymology.
