Arc-by-arc updates
Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 397 — “In Hopes of Reaching the Future”) — dies in the genocide; “Live, Robin!” / “Ohara is noble!”
Olvia — Robin’s mother, an Ohara scholar — urges Robin to “Get to the evacuation ship now! …if you stay on this island… you won’t be saved!!” (p. 5), then dies in the destruction . Her last words: “Live, Robin!! ” and “We cannot give up… on the future of the world! Be proud, Robin! Ohara is noble! ” (pp. 5–6, 18). The scholars on-page call her “that criminal” / “the prisoner Olvia” (Saul deserted to protect her, p. 3). Cross-link Nico Robin , Saul , Ohara , True History Ohara Was Killed For .
Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 396 — “Saul”) — confirmed Robin’s mother; nursed Saul; refuses the evacuation ship; “Live, Robin!”
Confirmed on-page as Robin ’s mother (reunion, pp. 5–7) — having earlier left Ohara to research history. She is revealed to have once nursed the shipwrecked giant Saul back to health (“karma”); he later deserts the Marines to save her and Robin. She refuses to flee Ohara on the evacuation ship so she can warn her homeland of the Ancient-Kingdom knowledge and protect “the voices of the past” (pp. 8–10). Her iconic parting words to Robin — “Live, Robin! ” and “You must one day take on the duty of telling this island’s history ” (pp. 10–11, 16) — are the will-to-live / duty-of-history mandate that pre-loads Robin’s later Enies Lobby “I want to live!!” reversal (see Olvia’s Live Robin Charge Loads Robins I-Want-To-Live Reversal ). Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 395 ) — meets Robin but denies being her mother
Olvia returns to Ohara and meets her daughter Robin face-to-face. To spare Robin the fate of “the daughter of a criminal,” she denies being her mother : “I’m sorry, Robin… I have no right to be your mother… I can never call myself your mother again” — even as Robin pleads “Let me stay with you, mother! ” and protests that she studied hard, became an archaeologist, and can read the Poneglyph . An intercut memory shows child Robin once mistaking a passing stranger for her mother. Cross-link Nico Robin , Ohara , Buster Call , True History Ohara Was Killed For .
Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 394 — “The Demons of Ohara”) — the escaped archaeologist returns to Ohara and fires on the Director
The Director recognizes her — ”…NICO OLVIA!! I didn’t expect to find you on this island… the heinous criminal who cunningly escaped from a Navy prison ” (p. 9). She is armed and defiant — levels a flintlock at him (“The next one won’t miss ”, p. 8) and grazes his jacket sleeve, but insists “My presence here alone… proves nothing.” She is beaten and shot down (pp. 15–16). She reunites with the young Robin — “…so much… you’ve grown…” (p. 16). Her research group elsewhere had already been executed “for the crime of deciphering the ancient writings” (p. 16). Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 393 — “Olvia”) — in-scene debut; sole survivor of the 33-member team; returns to warn Ohara and disowns Robin
Ch. 393 — p. 9 (caption “NICO OLVIA, ARCHAEOLOGIST”); pp. 9–19
In-scene debut (named via caption, p. 9). Robin ’s mother, an Ohara scholar. She is the sole survivor of a 33-member investigative team that went to sea six years earlier (“all 33… died… except myself”), captured by the Navy, who concluded the team was from Ohara and is now coming to eradicate the island (p. 10). She read enough of the Poneglyph “just in the nick of time.” She tells the scholars to leave, then declares “I am a scholar of Ohara. I cannot abandon the will of those who came before me! ” (p. 14). In a library flashback she recalls meeting young Robin once; now, to protect her, she disowns Robin — “I cannot make her the child of a criminal… I have to sever all ties… I’ve crossed the line” (p. 15). She runs into town firing a rifle as the Marines round up the scholars (pp. 16–19). Ch. 392 — p. 7 (WANTED poster); p. 16 (dialogue)
