Arc-by-arc updates
Enies Lobby — Ohara flashback (Ch. 391) — first appearance; the cold birthday note
Etymology
- Surface: ロジ (Roji) most likely renders 露地 (roji) — the path/garden of a Japanese teahouse (a roji is the dewy garden walkway leading to a tea room). This places her in the garden/plant naming theme Oda gives Ohara’s residents (cf. Clover = clover/shamrock, Olvia, etc.), tying her to the island’s Ireland/botanical motif even though her on-page role is the cold, excluding guardian.
- Confidence: medium — the roji reading is the consensus fan-etymology (One Piece Podcast Water 7 compilation; sportskeeda) but Oda has not confirmed it via SBS. Source: The One Piece Podcast “Name Etymology Compilation (Water 7 to Thriller Bark).”
Notes
Roji is established only as “Aunt Roji,” a guardian relative. (Recorded in related_characters, NOT a fabricated families link, per the batch reconcile.)
status: aliverecords her in-flashback state only; her fate is forward of this batch.
