The elder of the two giant warrior-heroes of Elbaf, age 345 — “former giant pirate crew captain,” among “the most respected warriors of all giantkind” (pp. 12-13). Companion to Jorul. Visits the House of Lambs children with semla before the fast.

Etymology

ヤルル (Yaruru). Likely from “Jarl” — the Scandinavian word for “Earl”/chieftain and a traditional Scandinavian male given name. The fit is double: it matches Elbaf’s Norse/Scandinavian naming overlay (the giants map to Norse jötnar) and his on-page station as a giant chief/hero. VIZ renders his epithet “Beardhill”; the original 山ひげのヤルル (Yamahige no Yaruru) is literally “Mountain-Beard Yaruru,” paired against co-captain Jorul’s 滝ひげ “Waterfall-Beard.” (One Piece Wiki–sourced; the “Jarl” link is hedged “may be” — confidence medium.)
