Summary
The Ohara flashback continues. The castaway giant Jaguar D. Saul finishes his raft and prepares to leave; the child Robin, who has secretly fed him, asks him to take her to sea to find her mother. Saul lets slip his knowledge of the “100-year void in history” and the Poneglyph — and, hearing Robin’s mother’s name is Olvia, realizes with horror that Robin is “Olvia’s daughter.” He confesses that a Navy battleship is on its way to Ohara to eradicate the scholars, and sends Robin running back to town to warn them. There, Robin finds her mother Nico Olvia has returned — the sole survivor of a 33-member archaeology team the Navy hunted down — come to tell the scholars the government is coming to kill them all. In a flashback-within-the-flashback, Olvia recalls meeting young Robin once in the Tree of Knowledge library; now, to protect her, she disowns Robin, refusing to make her “the child of a criminal.” As the World Government ship lands on Ohara’s coast and Marines begin rounding up the scholars, the final pages cut to Marine HQ: CP9 Director Spandine reports he has arrived in Ohara, and a young Navy Vice Admiral is woken with the news — captioned “KUZAN — Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral (later to become Admiral Aokiji).”
New reveals
- Aokiji = Kuzan, on-page. The closing caption box names him: “KUZAN — Navy Headquarters Vice Admiral (later to become Admiral Aokiji)” (p. 19). His younger self is shown at Marine HQ, woken with the news of the Ohara operation. This is the first on-page utterance of the name Kuzan and the first appearance of his 20-years-younger self.
- Nico Olvia appears in person. Caption “NICO OLVIA — ARCHAEOLOGIST” (p. 9). Robin’s mother, the sole survivor of a 33-member investigative team that went to sea six years earlier; the Navy concluded the whole team was from Ohara and is now coming to eradicate the island. She had read enough of the Poneglyph “just in the nick of time.”
- The 100-year void in history named to child Robin. Saul tells Robin there is “a 100-year blank in the history of the world that no one knows anything about,” and that the government forbids investigating it because it is “against the law” (pp. 4–5).
- CP9 Director Spandine reports arrival in Ohara (p. 19); the World Government / Navy ship lands on the Ohara coast and begins rounding up “everyone who calls himself a scholar” (pp. 16–18).
- Olvia disowns Robin to save her: “I cannot make her the child of a criminal. So I have to sever all ties… I’ve crossed the line.” (p. 15).

Open questions raised
- What exactly did Olvia’s team and the Ohara scholars decode that warranted a total-eradication order? (→ True History Ohara Was Killed For)
- What is Kuzan/Aokiji’s exact role in the coming Ohara operation?
- Will Robin reach the town in time to warn anyone, and will Saul’s raft matter to her escape?
