Chapter 301: I Hereby Guide...

The 400-year Skypiea war is over and the celebration runs for days; the Straw Hats, meanwhile, quietly plan to “steal the gold and run.” While the crew loots treasure from Nola’s belly with the help of the sleeping Tone Dial snake, the Shandians haul up the toppled bell-tower with Giant Jack and find the Golden Bell of Shandora intact. On its base is the ancestral stone the Shandians have guarded for generations — a Poneglyph. Robin, having gone off on her own, reads it: the makers’ creed (“We are the ones who weave history… hold the truth in your heart, keep your mouth silent… with the reverberations of the great bell”), the location of the Ancient Weapon “Poseidon,” and — carved in a different hand — a separate message: “I HEREBY GUIDE THIS DOCUMENT TO ITS END. PIRATE GOL D. ROGER.” Robin realizes the Pirate King reached this bell, could read the script, and that the Shandians’ generational duty to protect the stone is fulfilled — Roger has already “guided” it. She explains the two Poneglyph types and the “blank history” they collectively encode, names Roger as the man who reached Raftel at the end of the Grand Line, and — clocking the same aura she felt from Roger — names the boy in the straw hat: “Monkey D. Luffy,” the “D.” no coincidence. The chapter closes on the crew (with a bursting bag of gold) bolting from the gathering crowd as Robin chuckles that the Shandians “don’t want” the gold back.
