A recurring composition across the Alabasta arc: each of the three foundational Void-Century mechanics makes its series-debut at the precise moment a villain first exploits it. The reader meets the poneglyph, the Ancient Weapon, and the sole-living-reader not as wonders but as contraband Crocodile is interrogating a king to seize — the macro-plot is front-loaded through abuse.

Why this matters
Alabasta is the structural on-ramp to the entire Void-Century plot, and Oda builds the ramp out of villainy: the poneglyph (the True-History vessel), the Ancient Weapon (the means by which the Void Century ended), and Robin (the only living key) are all introduced as objects of a Warlord’s conquest. The heroes will not understand any of these for hundreds of chapters; the antagonist understands all three in Alabasta. The composition pre-loads every later poneglyph/weapon/Robin beat (Ohara flashback, Skypiea, Water 7 blueprints, Fishman Island, the Road Poneglyphs, Laugh Tale) and is the reason the sole-living-reader and hereditary-guardian-duty doctrines feel inevitable when they recur at world-scale.
