Profile
Owner of the Mermaid Café at Coral Hill, Ryugu Kingdom; a mako-shark mermaid (caption Ch. 610 p. 6). A renowned fortune-teller — “famous in Coral Hill for her prognostication” — who reads the future with a crystal ball (pp. 6-7) but gave up reading the future because her terrifying visions always come true.
Arc-by-arc updates
Oden-era flashback — young Shyarly hears the prophecy (Ch. 968) — flashback (child)
- Seen as a child mermaid on Fish-Man Island, overhearing the Sea Kings’ prophecy that “the mermaid princess” will be born and “eventually surpass us” — asked “when is this mermaid princess going to be born?” (p. 5). Consistent with her lifelong prophetic gift (cf. the SBS “predicted the Pirate Age at age 4”).
Oden-era flashback — “Prophet Girl Sharley, age 3” (Ch. 967)
- In the Chapter 967 Oden-era flashback she appears as a 3-year-old prophet (“Prophet Girl Sharley, age 3”) at Fish-Man Island who foretells the imminent birth of the Mermaid Princess (Poseidon — the future Shirahoshi) and is credited (with Queen Otohime) with predicting the late king’s death (pp. 7–10). Roger’s crew witnesses the prophecy; Roger ties “Poseidon” to the Void-Century treasure rather than the weapon itself. See Ancient Weapons, King Neptune.
Fish-Man Island — sets down the crystal ball (Ch. 653)
- At the Mermaid Café, gives up fortune-telling “for good” and chooses to trust “that boy in the straw hat,” apologizing to Camie for doubting her friends (p. 3). Does NOT recant the ruin-prophecy — “what she saw might be a year or more off.” See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
- Notes business at the café will recover now that “that idiot Hody” is gone (p. 2).
Fish-Man Island — civilians turn to her as Noah falls (Ch. 640)
- Shown at Conchcorde Plaza tending the wounded as panicked citizens cry “Is the island really gonna be destroyed?! What’s gonna happen, Madam Sharley?!” (p.13) — her ruin prophecy looming as Noah falls. (
last_appearanceadvances 0633→0640.) See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
Fish-Man Island — the prophecy invoked in despair (Ch. 633)
- On-page as the panicked citizens press her: “When will the pirate with the hat come and destroy this island?!” She answers “I don’t know if it’ll be tomorrow or a year from now. I can only see what happens. I don’t know.” (p. 8) — and the crowd, despairing, begins begging for the prophesied ruin (pp. 8–9). See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
Fish-Man Island — the prophecy named, and struck down (Ch. 632)
- Arrives at Conchcorde Plaza to warn Hody he is “in over his head” and reveals the subject of her ruin-prophecy: Straw Hat Luffy — therefore “there’s no future where Hody rules this island” (pp. 12-13). The crowd: “Madam’s prophecies always come true!”
- Revealed to be Arlong’s sister (p. 14, via Hody: “your brother Arlong”).
- Hody strikes her down for the prophecy (pp. 13-14); her fate left open.
- See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
Fish-Man Island (Ch. 614) — the prophecy spreads (referenced, not shown)
- Her ruin-prophecy spreads across Coral Hill as the crew “shows their true colors”: “They must be the ones Madam Shirley saw in the vision too! The prophecy’s already coming true!” (p. 9). Referenced by the townsfolk, not depicted. See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
Fish-Man Island (Ch. 612)
- Confirms to Prince Fukaboshi the vision she described earlier: the Straw Hat Pirates will bring destruction to Fish-Man Island — “there is no denying it” — and insists precautions be taken against them (p. 7). See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
Fish-Man Island — the Mermaid Café and the ruin-prophecy (Ch. 610) — first appearance
- Lends the Mermaid Café’s back room to recover the blood-losing Sanji and gives Camie the day off to show the crew around Coral Hill (p. 6).
- Her visions always come true: she is said to have foreseen the Battle of Marineford and Whitebeard’s death (p. 8), and stopped fortune-telling because of it.
- At chapter’s end she collapses with a vision that “Straw Hat Luffy will bring ruin to Fish-Man Island” and demands he be driven off (pp. 14-16). See Madam Sharley Prophesies Straw Hat Luffy Will Bring Ruin To Fish-Man Island.
