Name etymology (name-etymology technique)

First-appeared in Ch. 1188 (Imu’s descended form wields them vs. Gear-5 Luffy — before the 1189 “19 founder-swords” reveal that ties them to the houses):

• Stigma (p. 12) — furigana Stigma; kanji glossed “Sword of Hatred” (憎悪). Real-world: the stigmata — the crucifixion wounds of Christ miraculously reproduced on the faithful; more broadly a mark of disgrace/branding. Judgment-and-marking register: a wound that brands. Fits Imu’s power to strike names from history (a mark of erasure). Confidence: high on kanji, medium on the intended real-world referent (stigmata vs. generic “stigma = mark”).
• Sword of the Wailing Void (p. 13) — kanji reads “Void / Emptiness Sword” (虚空 / 空 register); furigana bōfū is a homophone for 暴風 “howling wind / storm / tempest” (TCB TN on p. 13). Double pun: written = the Void, spoken = the raging storm. This is the Tohu / Bohu register named at 1189 — Hebrew tohu wa-bohu (תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ, Genesis 1

• Nemesis — Greek goddess of divine retribution against hubris (arrogance before the gods). Kanji: “Sword of Heavenly Punishment.” The throne-side “Blade of Judgment” (Nemesis Is The Sword Beside The Empty Throne). Confidence: high.
• Longinus — the Spear of Longinus / Holy Lance that pierced Christ’s side at the crucifixion (Gospel of John; soldier named Longinus in later tradition). Kanji: “Spear of Holy Life.” The set’s lone spear, wielded by House of Rimoshifu. Confidence: high.
