Etymology

• Mariejois: French Marie (Mary) + joie (joy) — Mary’s Joy. The Christian-Madonna register on the WG capital is high-signal — pre-loads (a) the religious-iconography of the WG itself, (b) the Lily/Imu/Madonna sub-pattern of forward-canon, (c) the Joy-Boy thread (Mary’s Joy / Joy Boy — the joy lexeme shared).

• Ch. 142 p. 6 — exterior wide-shot, caption “The Holy Land of Mariejois”. Inside the city, the World Council convenes with King Wapol of Drum, King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta, and (implicitly) the rest of the WG-member-kings. Princess Vivi and Royal Guard Captain Igaram attend with Cobra.

• Setting: snow-capped cliff-top city; gothic-cathedral / rose-window / spire architecture distinct from any East-Blue or Grand-Line setting shown to date.
• Function: hosts the World Council (Reverie) — the convocation of the world’s reigning monarchs to coordinate anti-revolutionary security and inter-kingdom policy.
• Caption-grammar: “The Holy Land” — religious-iconography register; the WG presents its capital as sanctified space. Pre-loads the Celestial-Dragons-as-living-gods register of forward-canon Mariejois.
