Etymology

Confidence: high · カリブー Karibū = “caribou,” the North-American reindeer — confirmed in-story by the reindeer figurehead on the Caribou Pirates’ ship. The brothers’ names rhyme (Karibū / Koribū, both ending -bū), a stock One Piece sibling-pair convention. His epithet 濡れ髪のカリブー “Wet-Haired Caribou” describes the slick, wet-looking tuft of hair on his head; he is also styled “the Soldier Killer” for his reputation killing Navy men. With the Blackbeard Pirates — brings Teach a secret (Ch. 1122)

• Now among Blackbeard’s people, Caribou promises Master Teech a delightful revelation about a captive (“Master Teech!! I promise…”); Blackbeard orders the man brought to him (p.5). What Caribou knows — GUARDED.

Final Saga — Egghead aftermath (Ch. 1108)

• Captured on a government island (bubble-coral trees — Sabaody-like) and held at gunpoint by a Marine Commodore; pleads that “Master Teech is gonna split your skulls!!” if he’s killed (pp. 3–4).
• To save himself he reveals he knows both ancient-weapon secrets — Poseidon = Shirahoshi and Pluton beneath Wano — and begs to be taken to Blackbeard to sell the information (p. 4). See Ancient Weapons.

Egghead — chases the Blackbeard Pirates (Ch. 1107) — shown

• Surfaces on Egghead chasing the Blackbeard Pirates (“I’ve been looking for you folks!!!”); his “lifelong dream is to be one of Master Blackbeard Teech’s goons,” driven by “a certain someone who inspired me to go out to sea in the first place.” Begs Devon/Van Augur to let him meet Teach (p.17).

Egghead (Ch. 1065)

• Ferries the Straw Hats to Egghead and is furious to be brought to a government island (“Mark my words!! You’ll pay for this!”); the crew thanks him for helping in Wano and sends him off.

Wano Country — Flower Capital festival (Ch. 1053)

• Lurks at the victory festival meaning to “eliminate” Luffy, but Luffy chummily wraps an arm around him; Caribou ends up handing Luffy the newspaper, then is stunned by the new-Four-Emperors headline — “Whaaaat?!” (p.13, pp.16-17). See Four Emperors (Yonko).

Wano Country — Tokage Port, Udon (Ch. 1021)

• Surfaces at Tokage Port, Udon, using his Numa Numa no Mi (Swamp-Swamp) power to hoard a vast amount of food inside his bottomless swamp body; comedic exchange with allies (“kee hee hee hee”) (p. 16). Identified by his swamp power + signature laugh; not named in dialogue this chapter.

Wano Country — Udon (Ch. 952) — ally-of-convenience in the prison takeover

• Helped the alliance secretly seize the Udon labor camp; the warden Babanuki is tamed with millet dumplings to feed Queen false “no problems / all locked up” reports. “And it’s all thanks to you, Caribou.” / “That’s right! You owe me one!” (pp. 6–8).

Wano Country — Udon (Ch. 946) — referenced/role only; not clearly shown

• Used as a decoy/relay-spoiler by the scabbards’ breakout plan — “That Caribou is a useful fellow!!” — distracting the wardens’ “they went thataway!” relay out front while Kawamatsu and Raizo work the Boss-Snail plan (p. 8).

Wano Country — Udon (Ch. 940)

• Revealed to be imprisoned at the Udon mines alongside Luffy, Hyogoro and Raizo; pledges himself as Luffy’s “underling” in exchange for a ride home (pp. 13–15).

Wano Country (Ch. 928) — imprisoned in the Udon mines

• Reappears imprisoned in the Udon Stone Quarry, his bounty re-captioned 210,000,000 “Wet-Haired Caribou” with an on-page “Caribou Refresher” recap (p. 4).
• Begs Luffy to take him along in an escape, claiming he’s “been in here a looot longer” and “knows things” (pp. 4-5).
• Prison rumor mill: it is said he “messed with Big Mom and got his arm ripped off” — Caribou denies it, insisting he “never tried to go after Big Mom” (p. 5).

Punk Hazard (Ch. 691) — lurking in Caesar’s lab

• First on-page Punk Hazard appearance (stowed away aboard the Sunny since Fish-Man Island). Lurking in Caesar’s lab; watches the Straw Hats on the monitors and eyes the door controls — “the mood’s downright frosty in here” as the guards lose faith in Caesar (p. 12).

Fish-Man Island — robbed and beaten by Pekoms (Ch. 652)

• Resurfaces outside the Sweets Factory having lost his stolen treasure “and the princess’s secret” — he’d meant to “curry favor with a certain someone” (pp. 9-10). See Caribou Carries The Mermaid-Princess Secret To Curry Favor.
• Confronts the thief, deploys his Gatling gun and Swamp-Swamp (Numa Numa no Mi) mud body, but is defeated by Pekoms (a turtle Zoan), who no-sells the gunfire in a shell and knocks him out (pp. 10-13).
• On-page his wanted poster is read as a ~200 million bounty (p. 10); referred to as “Wet-Hair Caribou, a hot new rookie.” Bystanders note “Logia types that think they’re invincible don’t last long in the wild” (p. 13).

Fish-Man Island — knocked out; treasure stash recovered (Ch. 651)

• Found knocked out cold on the main island by Luffy’s single punch (“I guess your one punch knocked him out cold,” p. 3). His bounty is cited as worth 200 million (p. 3; cf. 210M on his note).
• The treasure stashed inside his swamp-like body is recovered (pp. 3-4); King Neptune hands it to the Straw Hats, and Luffy later offers it to Big Mom as repayment for the eaten sweets (p. 18). Caribou himself does not act this chapter.

Fish-Man Island — the treasure thief who overhears the Poseidon secret (Ch. 650)

• The “treasure thief” hiding in Ryugu Palace since the battle (unnamed on-page — identifiable by appearance and his “my brother… at the harbor” line, which names his brother Coribou): overheard King Neptune’s Poseidon secret (“Have I just overheard some amazing info?!”), cut the palace’s right tower clean in two, and made off with all of the castle’s treasure (pp. 3, 10-13). • Tried to abduct Shirahoshi to sell her in the New World (“I have so much treasure now that selling mermaids is just a hassle, but YOU’RE a different story”) before Luffy kicked him out of Shell Tower. Escaped with the treasure.

Return to Sabaody (Ch. 600) — first SHOWN on-page; the two-faced “Soldier Killer”

• First appearance: now shown as a wet-haired, smiling captain of the Caribou Pirates (bounty 210,000,000) among the “super rookies” answering the impostor “Luffy“‘s recruitment call on Sabaody Archipelago (pp. 7-10).

Return to Sabaody (Ch. 601) — among the Grove-46 recruits; opens fire on the Navy

• Shown among the 100+ pirates recruited under the fake “Straw Hat Luffy” (Demalo Black) at Grove 46 on Sabaody Archipelago, blockaded by the Navy and a Pacifista squad.
• Ordered to take a captured Marine scout as a human shield, he instead disobeys and opens fire on the Navy — “Hee hee hee! I smell blood! …I smell the stinky blood of hypocrites!” (pp. 5-6) — the gleeful, treacherous killer established @0600 in action.

Fish-Man Island descent — buries the fake Straw Hats; trails the crew undersea (Ch. 603) — Logia swamp-body shown (unnamed)

• A grinning, treacherous pirate who infiltrated the fake “Big Bounty Straw Hats” only to murder and bury them at Sabaody’s Grove 46 with his brother Coribou (pp. 2-4).
• Logia power SHOWN but UNNAMED: when a fellow pirate stabs him, his body turns to swamp/bog and swallows the attacker “from the inside” (GLOOP, pp. 2-3) — bystanders gasp “He’s a Logia type?!”
• Sanctimonious — prays “O Lord” while killing; claims to have seen “the real Straw Hat Luffy with my very own eyes.” At chapter’s end he trails the diving Thousand Sunny undersea — “Hee hee hee! Fish-Man Island — deep-sea ambush (Ch. 604)

• Leads the Caribou Pirates in a planned deep-sea ambush of the Sunny — “cut their heads off and bring them back” / “destroy their ship and send them to a watery grave” (p.4) — but is blindsided when the Straw Hats’ ship rides the deep current straight into theirs.
• Boards the Sunny and is instantly captured by Zoro (pp.8-9). Flips to a sniveling pious act: begs not to be thrown in the sea — “have you no regard for human life?!”, “The Lord is watching you!!” (p.9) — and claims to be “nobody… they use me as cannon fodder,” denying he is the captain.
• Leers at Nami (“We got a cutie!”), drawing Sanji’s wrath (p.10).
• Inner monologue exposes the act (p.11): “I’m outnumbered nine to one… I can get out of these ropes any time I want, but I should bide my time and pick them off one by one” — confirming the two-faced-killer tell directly against the Straw Hats. Fish-Man Island — captive aboard the Sunny (Ch. 605)

• Still held captive aboard the Sunny during the Kraken fight; calls out as his brother Coribou charges into the deep sea to rescue him — naming him on-page (“Coribou!!”). Not clearly re-named himself within 0605 (identified by context).

Fish-Man Island — deep-sea descent (Ch. 606) — the stowaway; mud-body Logia inferred

• Revealed as a stowaway hiding in a barrel aboard the Sunny after melting out of his ropes — a Devil Fruit user whose body turns to mud; the crew infers a Logia type (“his body can turn into mud,” p. 6). Fruit not yet named on-page (the Numa Numa no Mi is named @0612 — forward).

• Comic reversal: the submarine-volcanic heat cooks him inside the barrel and he begs to be released (“Let me out, Pops!! I’ll be your slave!!”, p. 6).

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 612) — the Numa Numa Fruit named; abducts mermaids at Mermaid Inlet

• Bursts out of a barrel the mermaids were trying to open at Mermaid Inlet (pp. 3-4); reveals himself as a Swamp-Swamp Fruit (Numa Numa no Mi) user — “my body is bottomless!” — and sinks the gathered mermaids into his bottomless mud to abduct them (pp. 4-5). His earlier-shown mud body (@0603/0606) is now NAMED on-page.
• States he can sell each captured mermaid at auction for 70 million berries, and sarcastically “thanks” the Straw Hats for getting him onto Fish-Man Island without going through customs (p. 5).
