• 20 years ago at Ryugu, drinks and laughs with old friend King Harald (“It’s been too long since I had such a good laugh, Neptune!!”). They joke about betrothing Loki to Neptune’s foretold daughter — a fortune teller predicted a daughter “four years from now,” “no ordinary mermaid” with “wild, disruptive powers” (a Shirahoshi/Poseidon callback; pp. 8-9).

Elbaf flashback — named as Ryugu’s newborn heir ~70 years ago (Ch. 1153) — named, not shown

• In the Elbaf origin flashback, King Harald’s diplomatic voyages reached the Fish-Man Kingdom ~70 yrs ago, where “their king has a newborn heir named Neptune” (p. 13). Dates Neptune’s birth to ~70 yrs before present and installs an old Elbaf–Ryugu (giants–merfolk) diplomatic tie.

Oden-era flashback (Ch. 967)

• As a younger king (“Neptune the Knight”), recognized Roger and read the Sea-Forest poneglyph as Joy Boy’s apology (p. 9). Newly married, not yet a father; learns from 3-year-old Sharley’s prophecy that his future daughter will be the mermaid Poseidon (Shirahoshi) (pp. 6–10) — “She will not be hairy!!” See Joy Boy Identity, Ancient Weapons.

Reverie aftermath (Ch. 956)

• Back at Ryugu Palace, hosts Garp and begs his people not to fear the surface and human beings, even as the Navy mobilizes over the Alabasta incident (p. 4).

Reverie — nearly retaliates against the Celestial Dragons (Ch. 907)

• Restrained as Saint Charlos chains Shirahoshi; resolves “I will crush these worms… and return to the sea-floor!!” thinking “Forgive me, Otohime!!” (pp. 13-14).
• Recalls the coexistence dream — “if we did that, we might change the destiny of the children… for the better” (p. 14). Receives Saint Myosgard’s pledge of support (p. 16).

Reverie (Ch. 906)

• Leads his sons (Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, Manboshi) and Shirahoshi up the Red Line to Pangaea Castle for the Reverie; reassures Shirahoshi as she frets over the surface world.

Reverie — petitioning for surface emigration (Ch. 905)

• Leads the Ryugu delegation up the Red Line to Marijoa (only the 2nd time in 200 years Ryugu has attended the Reverie). Resolves to petition the Reverie to let Fish-Man Island’s people live on the surface — “It is the reason for this Reverie!!” (pp. 7, 14). Answers Shirahoshi’s wish to live on the surface as the very purpose of attending.

Reverie / Levely (Ch. 903)

• Departs Fish-Man Island for the Reverie with his sons; remarks the kingdom must now seek Straw Hat protection since Luffy has confronted Big Mom (p. 6).

Zou / Reverie prelude (Ch. 823)

• Prepares to take the Ryugu royal family to the Reverie to present Otohime’s signed citizens’ petition to migrate Fish-Man Island to the surface; coaxes the frightened Shirahoshi to come (pp. 10–11).

Fish-Man Island — the bomb in the tribute (Ch. 653)

• Sees the crew off, but secretly frets with his ministers over the treasure-box tribute sent to Big Mom: it holds a bomb planted a decade ago and they fear it will detonate in the Yonko’s palace — “we’re marching into the New World to our deaths!!” (p. 5). Fish-Man Island — the three weapons named; the treasure gifted (Ch. 650)

• At the feast, names all three Ancient Weapons to Nico Robin — “Uranus, Pluton… and Poseidon” — and confirms “your own daughter… is one of them,” warning the secret would throw “everything into chaos” (p. 2). • After the thief escapes with the castle treasure, he prizes his people’s safety over treasure and gladly gifts the (stolen) treasure to the Straw Hats (p. 13). Orders the guard to recapture the escaped Hody Jones; to the defiant Hody he says he feels “only pity” and must rethink his punishment.

Fish-Man Island — judgment + the Poseidon reveal (Ch. 649)

• Sentences the surviving New Fish-Man Pirates to penal labor in the Fish-Man District under military supervision; orders the officers and Vander Decken IX imprisoned and the giant Wadatsumi banished (pp. 3-9).
• At the feast, drunkenly but candidly, tells Nico Robin the Ryugu royal legend: the Forest of the Sea Poneglyph is Joy Boy’s apology for a broken promise; the ark Noah awaits the day the promise is fulfilled; and his daughter Shirahoshi’s “other name… is, in fact… Poseidon, the Ancient Weapon” (pp. 16-19). Fish-Man Island — the aftermath at Conchcorde Plaza (Ch. 648)

• Declares the ransacked treasury and emptied Tamatebox “a trivial matter” after nearly losing the kingdom; orders the recovered mermaids announced safe as “final proof of the Straw Hats’ innocence” (pp. 8-9).
• Reunites with Shirahoshi (p. 12); objects to Jimbei breaking the blood law (“But, majesty…”) but is overruled by events (p. 16).

Fish-Man Island — the Whitebeard friendship recalled (Ch. 645) — flashback; does not advance last_appearance

• Flashback narration establishes the Whitebeard–Neptune friendship (“we shared a drink to mark our friendship,” “years back, I owed a young Neptune a favor”) that anchored Fish-Man Island’s protection (p. 6). Cross-link Whitebeard.

Fish-Man Island — “lost all face”; commits the army (Ch. 642)

• Freed and briefed on the particulars (Decken, Hody, the princess’s decoy), Neptune commits the entire Neptune Army to Conchcorde Plaza to support Jinbe and the Straw Hats (pp. 9-10).
• Title-line speech: if the kingdom must be saved by pirates it falsely arrested and imprisoned, it has “lost all face.” Orders onlookers to evacuate; respects the citizens’ choice to stay and fight.
• “I will wait for the princes.” (p. 7).

Fish-Man Island — the truth of Noah (Ch. 641)

• Reveals Noah’s sacred purpose to Luffy and his sons: the ark waits on the sea floor “for the fulfillment of a promise… made with a great man, centuries in the past,” its construction methods “long lost,” guarded by the royals “for centuries,” and it “cannot be harmed until its promised day” (pp. 3, 5). Fish-Man Island — rescued for the crowd (Ch. 634)

• Freed from captivity as the staged centerpiece of Jinbei’s plan; his rescue by Straw Hat Luffy turns the citizens to the crew’s side (pp. 5–8). Hody brands him a “coward.”

Fish-Man Island — captive, shot, rescued (Ch. 633)

• Held captive before the island-wide broadcast; struck by Hody’s Shark Arrows alongside his sons (pp. 6–7) and nearly beheaded (pp. 10–11).
• Saved by Luffy’s eruption from Megalo (pp. 12–14); freed of his shackles by Nico Robin and carried to safety aboard Megalo with the rest of the royal family (pp. 15–17).

Fish-Man Island — captive at Conchcorde Plaza (Ch. 632)

• The king, the royal family, the ministers and the army are all captured at Conchcorde Plaza (pp. 4-5). When his sons apologize for losing, he tells them not to: the enemy’s strength was “gained through unnatural means” (Energy Steroids). “But the kingdom is theirs now…”

• Paraded as a captive on a giant Sea Bear toward Conchcorde Plaza, his execution set two hours away; laments he “can’t even save his own subjects” (pp. 16-17).

Fish-Man Island — paraded captive (Ch. 628)

• Shown chained and paraded on Hody’s island-wide broadcast as a “decrepit old man” / “your ‘Great Knight’”; Hody announces he will execute the king in three hours at Conchcorde Plaza (pp. 8-9). His ministers/people react in horror.

Fish-Man Island flashback + present hostage (Ch. 627) — shown (flashback)

• After Otohime’s murder, locks himself in Shell Tower of Ryugu Palace, unable to control his rage — “Why am I not allowed to kill the one who murdered my wife?!” — and is talked down by the Minister of the Left (pp. 6-7).
• Orders the capture of the pirate Vander Decken for harassing the six-year-old Shirahoshi with love letters (p. 8).

Fish-Man Island — Otohime flashback (Ch. 625)

• Forbids Otohime from going to the surface with the World Noble Saint Myosgard — “I won’t allow you to do something so reckless! …It means nothing if you go” (pp. 16-17) — but is overruled by her resolve; he frets through her week-long absence until she returns triumphant (pp. 18-19).

Fish-Man Island — the young king and his court (flashback, Ch. 621)

• “Fish-Man Island, 16 years ago.” Named on-page via Queen Otohime’s caption “King Neptune’s wife” (p. 4). In the palace he notes he cannot stop Otohime’s habit of mingling with the people, and the court discusses that Whitebeard — “your majesty’s friend” — protects the island but precautions are still needed (pp. 10-11). Father of the infant Shirahoshi and three sons.

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 619) — the king’s last stand; captured

• His aged body fails him mid-battle: “I can’t defeat old age! My body… won’t move!” (p. 6).
• Uses Merman Combat: Ultra-Marine (p. 4) to carve an escape path and evacuate his soldiers from the flooding palace toward Fish-Man Island (pp. 3-5); calls “Send my sons to me!!” (p. 8).
• Ultimately captured by Hody Jones — confirmed when Fukaboshi reacts “Father’s been captured?!” (p. 16).

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 618) — the palace surrendered

• Captured inside Ryugu Palace by Hody’s band. Rather than let his soldiers die in a hopeless fight while he is “unable to fight right now,” he orders them to surrender the palace and regroup with Fukaboshi (p. 18).

Fish-Man Island — captive king (Ch. 617)

• Bound and tormented by Hody Jones; offers his treasure, his soldiers, “anything you want” to be let go after Vander Decken, who “went after Shirahoshi” (p. 2): “My precious Shirahoshi!!!”
• Endangers himself to shield his own soldiers from Hody’s Shark Arrows (pp. 8-9); the soldiers call him honorable even as Hody mocks him: “What kind of a king endangers himself to protect his soldiers… You were never fit to rule!!”
• Confirms on-page that Shirahoshi is his daughter (the “giant mermaid and Neptune’s daughter,” p. 16) — the princess exposed at Coral Hill.

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 616) — bound in the throne room; his daughter confirmed missing

• Bound and held in the throne room (the Straw Hats’ accidental occupation), he accuses Vander Decken IX of kidnapping his daughter — “Vander Decken!! Now it’s all clear! You’re the culprit! Give me back my daughter!!” — and rejects Decken’s “dad” address (“I’m not your dad!!”) (p. 16).
• Learns alongside everyone that Shirahoshi is truly missing when Decken’s tracking coral confirms she has left the palace (p. 17).

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 615) — the assault on the castle

• Confined to the castle during the assault; learns the princess is “kidnapped” and that pirates are raining down on the north-east Shell Tower (p. 15).
• His “impregnable” Ryugu Castle has weathered years of Decken’s weapon-fire (the Mark-Mark Curse locked on his daughter) (p. 14).

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 614) — taken hostage; the message; the princess revealed

• Giant ruler of the Ryugu Kingdom, the “Great Knight of the Sea,” taken hostage in his own drained castle by the Straw Hats (pp. 4-5).
• Even bound, he commands his staff (“Bring down the connecting hallway, open the castle gates…”) and rebukes the pirates; reveals the castle would have been defensible if not drained (p. 5). Mocks the crew’s Log Pose: “You won’t be able to navigate the New World with that simple Log Pose!”

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 613)

Fish-Man Island (Ch. 612)

• Personally fetches Luffy, Nami, Brook and Pappag aboard Megalo to thank them for saving his daughter’s pet shark from the Kraken (pp. 8-9).
• Explains the secret of Fish-Man Island: it sits ~30,000 ft underwater yet is sunlit via the roots of the giant Sun Tree Eve (pp. 10-11).
• Returns to Ryugu Castle and is scolded by his Minister of the Left and Minister of the Right for leaving the castle without his guards (p. 14).
