Chapter 300: Symphony

Summary

The denouement of the Skypiea climax. With Enel gone and his gold-plated ark lost, the dust settles over Upper Yard. Nico Robin returns Aisa’s “treasure” and the Shandian girl reunites with the wounded Wyper; the badly-broken guerrilla Wyper is carried in for treatment alongside the other injured of both sides. The crew (Sanji, Zoro, Chopper, Robin, Nami) take stock: the Golden Bell “fell” and the only thing now golden about El Dorado “is its name,” yet Robin would rather have Dials than gold. Luffy, Conis and Nami reunite in tears in the forest where the Kami’s vassals stockpiled provisions, and Conis tearfully apologizes for once leading the Straw Hats into Heaven’s Judgment. The freed Skypieans — held as Enel’s slaves for six years — begin returning to a now-destroyed Angel Island, while the Shandians realize their own hidden cloud village is gone too; Gan Fall and the chiefs ask whether a 400-year rift can really be mended so easily. Then the answer comes: drums. A single drumbeat (DOOM!) swells into a TOMP-TMP-TAP rhythm, and across the ruins of Shandora both peoples — Skypiean and Shandian — begin to dance and laugh together. Wyper, who insists “this Varse refuses no one,” joins in. The chapter closes on the eternal “Symphony”: the Song of the Island re-made as a living drum-festival, the war finally ending in shared music. • The Golden Bell has already fallen/rung — Sanji: “The Golden Bell, you think…”, Nami: “Yeah. It fell, didn’t it?” (p. 5). This chapter is the aftermath — the bell is referenced as a past event, not rung on-page here. (See payoffs / explicit note below.)
• Enel is gone and his ark is lost. “With Eneru gone, they’ll have lost their will to fight” (p. 6); “It’s too bad we lost that flashy gold-plated boat of Eneru’s” (p. 5) — the gold-plated flying ark (the Maxim) was destroyed/lost in the climax. Enel himself does not appear on-page this chapter; he is referenced only.
• El Dorado’s gold is gone — Nami: “The only thing golden about El Dorado now is its name” (p. 5). Robin: “I’d rather have Dials than gold… We can’t get those once we’re back in the Blue Sea” (p. 5).

Open questions raised

• What exactly happened when the bell rang? Chapter 300 references the bell as already “fallen”/rung (p. 5) but does not show the toll or its ringer — the on-page ring lives in an adjacent (uncaptured) chapter. The “Luffy rings the bell” sub-claim of the City-of-Gold prediction must be scored against that chapter, not 300.
• Does the Song reach Jaya / Mont Blanc Cricket? Not in this chapter — there is no cut to Jaya or the Saruyama Alliance here. The hoped-for “Cricket hears the bell 400 years later” payoff, if it occurs, is in an adjacent chapter (likely 301–302).
• Where is Enel now? He is gone but his fate is unshown (the SBS “wherefore art thou Eneru?” gag on p. 20 deliberately teases it). His ark was lost; he himself is unaccounted for on-page.
