Profile

Named seven times in Ch. 70 (pages 6, 9, 10, 16, 18) but not yet shown on-page in named-character form. Arlong’s species is implied to be a sawshark (the Saw-Tooth alias and the giant grinning-shark Arlong Park figurehead). Identified by Chabo (page 12) as the visual reference for distinguishing fishmen from humans: “He looks like Arlong, but… he’s human.” — implying Arlong’s appearance is the prototypical fishman in the local population’s frame.

Operates a tribute-tax / extortion system over the Cocoyasi Village region: “If you laid one finger on a fishman, they’d kill you.” (Nojiko, page 15). Destroyed Gosa Village a few weeks ago (page 8); destruction-method involved “huge monsters” and house-flipping (page 16). Holds Nami in his crew under coercion (page 16-18 — Nami is one of Arlong’s crew and is feared as “a witch”).

Name etymology: Aaron (the Japanese name, アーロン) — possibly derived from the Biblical Aaron, but more likely a phonetic rendering of Arlon / Arlong; the long phoneme in the VIZ-localized form may encode the long-nose / long-saw feature of a sawshark.

• His teaching is the seed of Hody’s generation’s hatred: “Never forget that, Hody. Humans are an inferior species. Their existence is evil.” (p. 4). Fish-Man Island — named as Madam Sharley’s brother; “an empty symbol” (Ch. 632)

• Revealed to be Madam Sharley’s older brother (Hody: “your brother Arlong”, p. 14). Hody, who “looked up to Arlong as a child,” dismisses the Arlong Pirates as “just an empty symbol to bring fish-men together” compared to the New Fish-Man Pirates’ “real power.”

• Released from imprisonment at the G-2 Marine base (his hatred of humans “burned brighter than ever,” p. 2) — the release triggered by Jimbei accepting a Warlord seat.

Fish-Man Island — the supremacist born under Fisher Tiger (flashback, Ch. 622)

• Shown as a young Sun Pirate under Fisher Tiger; addresses Tiger as “big brother,” then corrects himself to “captain” (p. 11).
