Summary

On Angel Island, Conis guides the Straw Hats (Luffy, Sanji, Usopp) through the bustling Lovely Street toward the boat landing, where the locals visibly avoid the “outlaws.” She lends them her father Pagaya’s self-propelled boat, the Karasumaru (a waver-like craft fitted with two wind dials), and gives directions to Upper Yard via Gate Two and the Great Milky Road. Luffy notices Conis has been trembling since they left her house; under questioning she finally breaks down and confesses she was forced to lead them to their doom — by the law of Skypiea, any citizen who knows of criminals must deliver them to the “punishment site” or be killed, and she has already summoned the divine “punishment.” Realizing what she’s done, Conis begs them to run. A colossal cloud-serpent (“the Special Lobster Express”) erupts from the clouds and devours her; a bystander explains “the almighty Kami Enel sees everything.” Before the serpent can deliver Conis to her death, the wandering old man Gan Fall — the “Sky Knight” — swoops in on his winged steed Pierre and rescues her, telling Luffy this is the true nature of Skypiea and of the Kami’s power. Undeterred, Luffy declares his friends are on the Kami’s island and rides the Karasumaru off toward Upper Yard with Sanji.
