Chapter 1142: What I'm Afraid Of

Summary

On Elbaf’s Sun World, monstrous beasts — a giant fanged snake the children call “Jörmungandr,” plus a bird, a wolf and more — suddenly attack the Walrus School, the giants’ school for children. Principal Tusk (a former Giant pirate) and Jaguar D. Saul fight the snake off while Nico Robin investigates the students, who have fallen into a sleepwalking trance and are drifting off toward the beach and a ship. Librarian Miss Ange realizes the rampaging monsters are exactly the creatures the children drew that very morning in a “what are you afraid of?” lesson — their fears made real. Meanwhile, in the Underworld, the chained Prince Loki raises a giant thunder war-hammer, proves he is not helpless, and demands the “final cuff” be undone to “save Elbaph,” threatening to spread fire across the fire-vulnerable island — with Luffy and Usopp looking on. The chapter closes on the party behind the nightmare-attack: Killingham (asleep) and Gunko with an elder Holy Knight, as the vision that terrifies the children most rises — Nika.
