Summary
On the roof of Onigashima, the awakened, white-haired Luffy (“Gear 5”) keeps brawling Kaido in his dragon form. Kaido — who thought Luffy was dead — tries to diagnose the new power: Luffy is “transferring his rubber power to other things,” which Kaido reads as the awakening of a Paramecia, yet the cartoonish body transformations are “the trademark of Zoan powers,” so something doesn’t add up (p. 3). Luffy fights with toon-physics: he bites and inflates Kaido into a giant “Balloon,” makes Kaido’s body “not made of rubber” so the recoil hurts, launches him with an “Escape Rocket,” grows “Giant,” uses Kaido’s stretched dragon body as a “Jump Rope,” shrugs off a point-blank Blast Breath, drops a giant “Gum-Gum Ragnaraku” fist, and rebounds through a counting “One! Two! Three!… Zero!!!” charge. Watching observers — Yamato, a battered Kin’emon (calling for “Momo… Tama…”), and the Onigashima crowd — are stunned: “Was that always one of his forms?!” Yamato confirms it really is Luffy, just white-haired now. Exhausted and admitting he was “dyin’ before this,” Luffy refuses Kaido’s claim that he’s “reached his limit,” and tells his own heart to “hit that beat,” syncing it to the drum rhythm thudding through the island. Kaido marvels — “There is no one in this world who can defeat me!!! I’ve never seen such free-wheeling combat before!!!” — as the whole place “turns all white.” Luffy wraps the dragon up and grins: “Isn’t this fun… Kaido?!!”
New reveals
- Even Kaido can’t classify the fruit. It transfers rubber to the environment (Paramecia-like) and does free-form body transformations (Zoan-trademark) — Kaido explicitly flags the contradiction (p. 3).
- Gear 5 transfers rubber properties to other things — Kaido’s whole body gets inflated like a balloon, and conversely Luffy can declare a target “not made of rubber” so it takes full damage (p. 4-6).
- Toon-physics arsenal demonstrated: Balloon, Escape Rocket, Giant, Jump Rope, Gum-Gum Ragnaraku, the “One! Two! Three!… Zero!!!” bounce — combat “like something from a comic strip” (p. 13).
- The heartbeat / Drums of Liberation rhythm sustains the form. Luffy, “all tuckered out” and having been “dyin’ before this,” wills his heart to match the drum beat thudding through Onigashima to keep going (p. 14-15).
- Power summary (observer, p. 18): Luffy “uses the colors of Armament and the Supreme King… and can transfer his powers to other things.”

Notable panels
- Pages 1-2 — Color spread: the Straw Hats at a festive carnival food-stall scene, with a red “LIBERTY” banner (p. 1) and a “SEA OF…” stall sign over a big ONE PIECE logo (p. 2); Zoro sits cross-legged holding a small creature, Luffy reaches toward food, the straw-hat jolly roger flies at left. The overt “LIBERTY” wording lands one chapter after the Nika/“Warrior of Liberation” reveal — thematically loaded. See Straw Hats at a carnival food-stall — the red ‘LIBERTY’ banner.
- Page 3 — Title panel “Next Level”; Kaido’s Paramecia-vs-Zoan diagnosis.
- Page 5 — “Gum-Gum… BALLOON!!!”: Kaido inflated like a balloon.
- Page 8 — ”…GIANT!!!”: Gear 5 Luffy grows to enormous size, full-page.
- Page 10 — “Jump Rope!!”: Luffy swings Kaido’s stretched dragon body.
- Page 12 — “Gum-Gum… Ragnaraku!!!”: giant overhead fist-drop on Kaido (with the phrase “Conqueror of Three Worlds”).
- Page 17 — “One! Two! Three!… Zero!!!” bounce-charge.
- Page 19 — Final beat: Gear 5 Luffy wraps Kaido and grins, “Isn’t this fun… Kaido?!!” — To be continued.
Open questions raised
- What is the upper ceiling of Gear 5 — how long can Luffy sustain it on a stopped/restarted heart?
- Does the “transfer powers to other things” extend beyond rubber (e.g. transferring Haki, transferring the rubber state to allies)?
- Will Kaido’s analytical fascination (“the most fun I’ve ever had”) tip into a Roger/Joy-Boy-tier recognition of the awakened power?
