Summary
Still inside Jinbei’s flashback, the Sun Pirates obtain an Eternal Compass to return the rescued slave girl Koala to her hometown. The crew dotes on her — cutting her hair, easing her trauma — while ship doctor Aladdin (a former Ryugu Neptune Army soldier, implied but not on-page confirmed to be a former slave himself) and a still-bitter Arlong argue over whether humans can ever change. Weeks later at Foolshout Island, Jinbei walks Koala home; she vows to tell her village that “lots of fish-men are good people.” But the rescue was bait: Rear Admiral Strawberry of Navy HQ ambushes the crew, having been tipped off in exchange for overlooking the Celestial Dragons’ stolen property. The Sun Pirates fight free and steal a Navy ship, but Fisher Tiger is grievously wounded. Dying, Tiger refuses a human blood transfusion and finally confesses his hidden past — he too was a Mariejois slave for years — admitting that for all his stated belief in compassionate humans, “the demon in my heart” and his own flesh refuse their blood: “I cannot… love humans.” He dies, and the leader of the Sun Pirates is gone. Arlong, radicalized by the betrayal, declares himself boss of the Fish-Man District and storms back to Foolshout Island to slaughter the humans who sold Tiger out — only to be caught by Vice Admiral Borsalino.
