Etymology

Confidence: high · マンボシ = man- (from マンボウ manbō, the ocean sunfish Mola mola — his on-page species, a sunfish merman; the related アカマンボウ akamanbō / opah shares the manbō element) + 星 -boshi (‘star’), the Neptune-family suffix shared with Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi and Shirahoshi. Cross-pun: manbō also evokes the mambo dance — realized in his character tic, the “Sunfish Mambo♪” (“Red Mambo! Shake, shake!”).
