Firsts
  • Introduction of the **New Fish-Man Pirates** and their captain **Hody Jones** (Great White Shark fish-man), plus the four executives **Ikaros Much** (Giant Squid), **Daruma** (Cookie Cutter Shark), **Zeo** (Wobbegong Shark), and **Dosun** (Hammerhead Shark) — an all-fish-man supremacist crew that captures or sinks human pirates who pass through Fish-Man Island.
  • **Energy Steroids** ('the power drug') introduced: a single dose doubles a fish-man's strength, two pills double it again; the price is a **shortening of the user's lifespan**. Restates the racial baseline 'fish-men are ten times as strong as humans' (callback to Ch. 70).
  • **King Neptune, the Sea God** — Coelacanth merman, King of the **Ryugu Kingdom** — appears for the first time, riding his **pet whale Hoe**, and personally invites the 'Straw Hat humans' to **Ryugu Castle**.
  • Hody Jones demonstrates power by sinking Crab-Hand Gyro's pirate ship **while still wearing handcuffs** (the cuffs were 'just to show' he needs no hands), trapping the human survivors in a giant bubble to float them up to the surface as a terror-message.
  • Hody states the New Fish-Man Pirates' plan: carry on **Arlong's will**, blame humans for **Fisher Tiger's death**, depose Neptune, drag humanity into the ocean's abyss, and prove fish-men 'the superior race.'
  • Post-timeskip status: Monsieur **Pappag** is revealed as president and celebrity designer of the **'Criminal'** fashion brand on Fish-Man Island; he gifts the Straw Hats free goods for 'what you did two years ago.'

Summary

At Noah, the Fish-Man District, a human pirate crew led by Crab-Hand Gyro (a South-Blue pirate, 73 million berry bounty) sneaks aboard their ship to flee Fish-Man Island, having been forced to “become henchmen or die” by sea-beasts at 30,000 feet. The New Fish-Man Pirates executives — Daruma, Zeo, Dosun, and Ikaros Much — note the humans always run; their captain Hody Jones decides to “make an example of them again,” gulping a dangerous handful of Energy Steroids before pursuing. Meanwhile, in the present-day post-timeskip island, Luffy, Nami, and Camie ransack Monsieur Pappag’s “Criminal” brand store (he gifts them everything free for saving them two years ago) until a commotion erupts: King Neptune, the Sea God of the Ryugu Kingdom, descends from Ryugu Castle on his pet whale Hoe and — confirming with Camie’s shark Megalo that they are “the ones” — personally invites the “Straw Hat humans” to his castle. On the seafloor, Hody catches up to Gyro’s fleeing ship and, still handcuffed, busts through the hull and sinks the vessel with his bare-handed-but-handless strength, the cuffs proving he needs no hands at all. His crew narrates their creed: Energy Steroids multiply fish-man strength (already 10× a human’s) at the cost of their own lifespans, but they will carry on Arlong’s will, avenge Fisher Tiger against the humans they hold responsible, depose the “weak sea god” Neptune, and prove fish-men the superior race. Hody floats the terrified survivors up to the surface in a bubble as a living warning to humanity.
