Noah The Giant Ark In The Deep Sea

The seed
Noah Fish-Man District and the seat of the New Fish-Man Pirates ’ boss, but only its shadowed interior is shown. The biblical-ark naming (“Noah” = the great ship of the Flood) plus the deliberate withholding of its full form mark it as a planted object for a later reveal.
Ch. 613 p. 16 — the colossal ancient hull, full splash
A full location-signage splash (“Noah, the Fish-Man District” ) frames Noah’s colossal ancient hull dwarfing the Fish-Man District ; Hody Jones and Vander Decken IX strike their coup alliance beneath it (pp. 16-17). The ship’s scale and loaded biblical name are reinforced, its purpose still withheld.
Ch. 632 pp. 18-19 — the ark named ancient, FMI-built, and movable
Noah is named on-page as a ship “the denizens of Fish-Man Island built… a long time ago,” half the size of Fish-Man Island , and shown to be movable (Vander Decken IX marks and hurls it as a weapon at Shirahoshi ). The ancient ark’s FMI origin is now canonical; its purpose stays unexplained.
The ark starts to move , and King Neptune names it “the ark of prophecy ” that “must never be moved until a certain day has arrived. ” The biblical-ark name pays off into a literal prophesied relic guarded across centuries — the chekhov-explicit payoff trajectory the seed predicted. The named-and-withheld ark pays off its scale and weaponization on-page: chapter title “The Ancient Ark” ; Noah’s full ribbed hull descends over Conchcorde Plaza (pp. 8-9), big enough to “obliterate the entire island,” and Vander Decken IX has thrown it at Shirahoshi via the Mark-Mark curse (pp. 12-13).
Ch. 638 pp. 2-3, 9-12 — the withheld prop fires (partially)
The named-and-withheld colossal ark continues as a mobile, weaponized object — slaved to Decken ’s homing curse and chasing Shirahoshi through the open sea, the island’s people grabbing its trailing chains to try to halt it. Its scale is lethal (island-scale crisis), but its purpose and history are still withheld.
Noah is shown in full for the first time (colossal ark, p.18 splash) and weaponized — Decken ’s Mark-Mark curse hurls it at the island. Its sheer scale and the “ark of salvation/judgment” name register hard, but its history/purpose stay unexplained on-page. Escalation, not payoff.
Ch. 641 pp. 3, 5 — the significance made explicit
The ark’s significance is made explicit: not a ruin but a vessel “waiting for the fulfillment of a promise… made with a great man, centuries in the past,” construction lost, “cannot be harmed until its promised day.” The biblical-ark name (Noah → flood/covenant) now reads as a fairy-tale overlay on a covenant-of-the-promise.
Noah becomes a mobile, island-scale threat: Decken ’s homing curse on Shirahoshi drags the colossal ark toward Fish-Man Island to crush it, and the princess lures it away as a decoy. The ark’s purpose/origin stay withheld even as its scale and its homing on the Mermaid Princess are reinforced.
Noah descends on Conchcorde Plaza as a weapon, “surrounded by air” ; a fish-man warns its bubble “will go right through the ship!!” — unlike the bubble that protects the island. The ark is being used to crush Fish-Man Island , not (yet) for whatever it was built for — the withheld-purpose tell reinforced as the ark is turned into a siege weapon.
Ch. 645 pp. 10-13, 20 — the ark is broken but still unexplained
Luffy ’s Elephant Gatling fractures Noah to stop it crushing the island (“he’s trying to destroy the legendary ark!!” ); the final panel shows the colossal hull cracked and groaning . The prop is now physically damaged on-page yet its purpose/origin stay deliberately withheld — the withholding persists even through destruction.
Why is such a giant vessel-structure the fish-men’s deep-sea base, and what is it for?
