Firsts
  • Zou is a land on the back of the giant elephant Zunesha
  • Zunesha bathes itself twice daily (the seawater 'rain-ruption'); the cities harvest it as water + food
  • The Whale Forest is ruled by the Cat Viper (Nekomamushi); Kurau City is the principal city
  • Bepo (Heart Pirate) was born in the Whale Forest — confirming his mink origin
  • Jack also attacked the Marine convoy escorting the captured Doflamingo and demanded the minks surrender a hidden person
  • Minks are extremely friendly; greeting 'Garchu', call humans 'Youteia', sub-types Monkey/Lesser/full-body minks
  • Cliffhanger: something has happened to Sanji

Summary

On the storm-lashed land of Zou, the Straw Hat groups scramble as a colossal wall of seawater — the “rain-ruption” — crashes over the cities. Wanda (a dog-mink) explains to Luffy’s group in the Whale Forest that the flood is no rain at all: the land rides on the back of a giant elephant, Zunesha, which bathes itself twice a day, and the cities’ aqueducts harvest the seawater for drinking and for fish. Kin’emon and Kanjuro, meanwhile, scale the elephant’s left leg on Kanjuro’s drawn cat “Nekozaemon” (which nearly melts in the water). In Kurau City, Zoro, Law, and Robin weather the same flood among sharks. The minks recount that Jack — the pirate who devastated Zou — also attacked the Marine convoy escorting the captured Doflamingo (four battleships, plus a ship bearing an admiral and the former fleet admiral) and had demanded the minks “hand him over, or your land will fall to ruin.” Reunited at the Rightflank Fortress in the Whale Forest, Luffy’s group finds Nami and Chopper safe, and the minks — far from the human-hating species of their reputation — welcome the “saviors’ friends” with the cheek-rubbing “Garchu” greeting and a feast. The reunion sours when Luffy asks after the missing members: Chopper sobs an apology and Nami, weeping, can only say — “It’s Sanji…!!!”
