Summary
A deep flashback (framed by the present-day Elbaf storyline) reveals the origin of Rocks D. Xebec and the coming-together of the Rocks Pirates. On snowy Elbaf, Rocks’ crew corners a young Loki (King Harald’s son), wounds him, and forces him to carry a lure-message to bring King Harald home. A parallel thread recounts how, at a Reverie a year earlier, a large man dressed in black — self-styled a “worshipper of Davy Jones” — infiltrated the chamber of flowers at the core of the Holy Land, abducted five kings, and left the warning “I will be back… right here.” At the same time, King Harald — who had come to Mariejois seeking peaceful talks — was mistaken for the king-abductor, and he and Rocks first clashed there before both fled by devastating the town and the Gate of Justice. Rocks then built his crew through the Davy Back Fight, assembling a “very solid lineup” (Shiki, Edward Newgate, Miss Buckin, Wang Zhi, Don Marlon, Ganzui), sailed to Aurust Castle to recruit Harald (who refused), laid out his plan to seize Pirate Island / Fullalead as a base, and declared his ambition to become “King of the World.” Young Loki, hearing Rocks vow to “take over the world,” has his outlook on life changed. Four years later, after Harald ignores repeated invitations, the Rocks Pirates set sail and make the world “quake with terror.”
New reveals
- The full origin of Rocks D. Xebec and the assembly of the Rocks Pirates is told for the first time (all prior God-Valley material was retrospective).
- Rocks built his crew via the Davy Back Fight — gambling for crewmates and flags between crews — “to assemble a very solid lineup for himself” (p. 11).
- The founding roster is shown on portrait cards (pp. 14–15): Rocks (captain), Shiki “Mobster (Future Golden Lion)”, Edward Newgate “Pirate (Future Whitebeard)”, Miss Buckin / Buckingham Stussy “Science Robber”, Wang Zhi “Pirate Guru (Future Commodore of Pirate Island)”, Don Marlon “Gangster of the West Blue”, Ganzui “Pirate Smuggler.” Young Newgate and Buckingham Stussy are shown at the crew’s founding.
- Rocks’ endgame stated on-page: “I’ll wipe out the navy and bring the holy land to its knees!! And in the end… I’ll be the KING OF THE WORLD!!! This is just the prologue to my life!!” (p. 16).
- King Harald’s backstory: he came to Mariejois seeking peaceful “talks” with the World Government, was falsely blamed for the five-king abduction (“No!! That wasn’t me!!!”), first met and clashed with Rocks there, and thereafter refused Rocks’ repeated recruitment offers.
- A separate historical incident: at a Reverie one year earlier, a large man dressed in black — a “worshipper of Davy Jones” — infiltrated the chamber of flowers at the very core of the Holy Land, abducted five kings, did “no more than this, as he knew he could not,” and left a warning (“I will be back… right here”) — “a historical anomaly, never repeated before or since.” Imu (“Mu”) is invoked (p. 5).
- Pirate Island / Fullalead origin lore: an island of exiles where nations dump their worst criminals; a gold lode was found beneath it; the exiles survived and built a settlement. Rocks planned to rule it as his base and “build a pirate’s paradise.” Wang Zhi is captioned “Future Commodore of Pirate Island.”
- Young Loki is inspired/“saved” by Rocks’ worldview: after Rocks declares “Let’s go and take over the world!!!”, the narration says “the next thing Loki knew, his outlook on life had been saved.”
