Profile
A powerful Marine paired with Fujitora in conversation — “they say you and Ryokugyu are both powerful monsters” (Ch. 713 p. 3). The chapter’s admiral-color footnote glosses Ryokugyu as “Green Bull,” slotting him into the Marine admirals’ coloured-big-cat naming alongside Fujitora (“wisteria tiger”). Named only; not shown on-page.
Arc-by-arc updates
Reverie — turns on Fujitora (Ch. 1085) — reported, not shown
- Reported (not shown): Ryokugyu “snapped and turned on” Fujitora during the Reverie after Fujitora helped the Revolutionary Army free slaves at Mary Geoise (p. 15).
Sphinx flashback — captures Weevil (Ch. 1073)
- Identified as the Admiral who “showed up” at Sphinx and captured Edward Weevil after the latter routed a lesser Navy squadron — “Admiral Ryokugyu showed up and all our efforts were in vain” (p. 14). Frames him as the WG’s response to the post-Warlord-abolition Weevil.
Wano Country — assault on the Flower Capital, routed by Shanks (Ch. 1055)
- Attacks near the Flower Capital with a plant/grass body: regenerates when cut (“for every one I cut in two, another grows!!”, p. 3) and is immune to fire (“Fire-Break Forest”; mocks the idea fire is “an obvious weakness,” p. 2). Towers over the samurai as a giant forest-form.
- Demands the Wano forces “bring me Straw Hat Luffy” (p. 10) so he can take Luffy’s head to the Navy as Kaido’s replacement; declares “mere human beings cannot match the might of nature itself” (p. 9).
- Beats back Raizo and the samurai; Yamato is restrained from striking him (p. 1). Driven back by Momonosuke’s Kaido-like flames (pp. 12–14), then routed by Shanks’s Conqueror’s Haki — “Are you that afraid of the new era?!” — and retreats: “Not yet…!! I’m not pickin’ a fight with you guys!!” (pp. 15–16).
Wano — descends on the Flower Capital (Ch. 1054)
- First on-page reveal of his Devil Fruit: the Logia “Woods-Woods Fruit” (“I’m a woodsman with the power of the Woods-Woods Fruit!!” p. 4; “It is pure Logia, nature itself!!!” p. 5). Attack: “Groves of Wrath!!!” (p. 4). See Mori Mori no Mi.
- Lands amid the victory celebration to reach Straw Hat Luffy (“Anything to ensure I reach Straw Hat Luffy!!!”, p. 7), preaching Celestial-Dragon supremacy: “You have no human rights!! …It’s how the world works!!” (pp. 4-6) and “humankind has lasted… by creating and defining the inferior” (p. 5).
- Repelled by Yamato (Blast Breath; “Son of Kaido?! …That’s some tough Haki!!”, p. 7) and the adult-dragon Momonosuke, who orders him to “Begone from the capital” (pp. 8-9).
- Also named at Navy HQ as one of the two Admirals (with Fujitora) who “led the Navy into battle” against the Revolutionaries at the Reverie (p. 16).
Wano Country — lands in Wano (Ch. 1053)
- Lands at the Udon ruins and crushes the already-downed King and Queen — “a guy in my position can’t go around getting beat by pirate subordinates” (p.11).
- Title-carded “Navy HQ Admiral Ryokugyu” (p.12); shown drinking. Calls for a battleship, refuses to “squeal to Sakazuki,” and intends to bring Luffy’s head to earn Fleet Admiral Sakazuki’s “you did good.”
Wano Country — inbound to Wano (Ch. 1052)
- Flying unaided through the open air toward Wano, taking orders from Fleet Admiral Sakazuki (“I already told you, Sakazuki, I’m in the air”); Sakazuki warns “Don’t you dare make things any worse!!” His coat reads “Justice” (正義) (p.17). First Marine response inbound to Wano after the raid.
Reverie fallout (Ch. 925) — named, not shown
- Named (with Fujitora) as a Navy Admiral who clashed with the Revolutionary Army’s captains during their Mariejois raid (reported, p. 11).
Reverie — first on-page appearance (Ch. 905)
- First time shown. Title-carded “Navy HQ Admiral Ryokugyu,” lounging at Sacred Marijoa on Reverie-security duty (pp. 14-15) — confirming his Admiral rank on-page.
- Reveals he has not eaten for three years — a self-imposed fast (“And that’s why I haven’t had a bite… for three darn years!! Ra ha ha!!”); jokes he’d “chow down” if a pretty lady asked.
- Trades barbs with a guest (blind; fresh from seeing Vegapunk’s creation) who means to destroy the Seven Warlords system; Ryokugyu had been sent by Sakazuki to find and kick that guest out but declines to fight (p. 14). The guest is Fujitora — see Fujitora Plans To Abolish The Seven Warlords System At The Reverie.
- Named for the first time when Doflamingo needles Fujitora about the Marines’ new “monsters”: “they say you and Ryokugyu are both powerful monsters” (p. 3). The admiral-color footnote glosses 緑牛 Ryokugyū = “Green Bull.”
