Name meaning
Eponymous — named for its builder/captain Arlong (Sawfish Fish-Man, possibly drawn from 'Erlang' the three-eyed Chinese god of martial deity OR a phonetic riff on the saw-tooth 'Aaron-long' shark register). 'Park' is the deliberately ironic civic-amenity register applied to a slavery/extortion compound — a fish-man pirate fortress branded as a public garden / amusement-park. The naming is a thematic contradiction (place-of-recreation vs. place-of-bondage) that mirrors Arlong's project of building a 'fishman utopia' on top of human enslavement.

Headquarters of Arlong and the Arlong Pirates — the arc-title location of the Arlong Park arc.

Profile

A fortified pirate base on the East Blue coast near Coco Village. The compound is built around a sun-tower with a giant grinning-shark figurehead at its center; the entrance gate is composed visually as a grinning mouth (the gate-and-figurehead composition reads as threat-structure-eats-the-protagonist). Surrounded by palm trees and accessed by a wooden dock; the waters around the park are referred to as Arlong’s lake (Ch. 70 page 6: “these waters are Arlong’s lake.”).

Named on-page in Ch. 70 via on-page Roman-letter signage (page 1 establishing-shot).

Description (Ch. 69 install)

Shark-themed pagoda-fortress complex on a tropical island in the north-western East Blue. Central pagoda labeled ARLONG PARK with a shark-toothed maw above the entryway. Two smaller shark-fin-pagodas flank the central building. Stone-walled gateposts with the Arlong Pirates spiral emblem. An archway-gate with crossed-X patterning. A waterside pool (interior — where Hatchan splashes in, page 15). Palm trees throughout.

East Gate

Wooden pagoda-style gate with the Arlong-Pirates spiral emblem on the gatepost. Site of:

  • Nami’s Ch. 69 arrival (page 16)
  • The cold-open of the Cocoyasi-civilian-victims register (a knife-brandishing orphan child confronts Nami, page 16-17)
  • Forward: the spatial-locus of “Luffy!! Help me!!!” (Ch. 93) and “Of course I will!!!” (Ch. 94) — the arc’s emotional climax.

Function

  • Arlong’s headquarters and the seat of his East-Blue criminal-empire.
  • Bribery-meeting venue — Captain Nezumi of Navy Base 16 meets Arlong here for monthly payouts.
  • Operational base for fish-man-tax extortion of nearby Conomi Islands villages.

Symbolic register

The architecture encodes the villainy — the shark-tooth gate and shark-pagoda complex pre-loads the predator-territory register that frames the arc. Arlong literally lives in a predator-architecture fortress; his territory’s shape is its threat-statement. See Arlong Park Shark-Architecture.

Arc-by-arc updates

Arlong Park (arc-climax destruction) (Ch. 94)

  • Structurally destroyed (pages 2-7). The pagoda visibly collapses (pages 2-3 RRMMMBB!!! / WOOOOO!!); caption ‘ARLONG PARK HAS FALLEN!!!!’ (page 7). Luffy emerges from the rubble (page 4 full-page silhouette). The Park’s interior armory (Ch. 92), throne room (Ch. 69), pool-courtyard, and pagoda are all collapsed.
  • Arlong Park’s treasure stash referenced (pages 9, 12) — Nezumi tries to claim it under Marine-legal cover; Nami extracts it for the village (‘YOU DON’T GET ANY OF THE TREASURE OF ARLONG PARK!!!’). The Park’s stash is redistributed to the village as part of the arc-climax restitution.
  • Status at chapter close: destroyed, abandoned, controlled by no one. The fishmen prisoners are being cleaned up by Nezumi’s Marines under Nami’s directive. The Park has gone from amphibious-base-of-the-Empire (Ch. 69-92) to defeated-villain’s-ruins-as-village-restitution-source.

Demolished (Ch. 93)

Arlong Park demolished by Luffy (Ch. 93)

  • Chart-room demolition (pages 4-9). Luffy systematically destroys the room (formerly Arlong’s chart-room for Nami) — desk, pens, charts, walls, windows. THWAK / BAM / KRASH / KREESH / KA-BAM / THOOM / KROOSH / THWOOSH.
  • Park-as-empire-capital doctrine declared (page 13). Arlong: “NO PUNY HUMAN… CAN BRING DOWN ARLONG PARK!!!” — the Park’s load-bearing role as the empire’s defended capital-structure is named on-page for the first time.
  • Full structural collapse (page 16 full-page splash, LOOOO… !!!!? / WHOOOMM!!!). The entire Park building (with the giant Arlong-shark-head architecture cresting the top, palm trees in the foreground intact) topples in a multi-panel vertical-cascade.
  • Final-panel collapse cliffhang (page 17). KA-B THOOM!! — the giant Arlong-shark-head’s lower jaw plummets at lower-right; the shark-flag topples at upper-right.
  • Post-Ch.93 state: rubble. The Arlong-Empire’s capital-fortress is brought down before its expansion can begin. Forward-pattern: the capital-fortress-falls-before-the-villain-falls arc-grammar (first-installed here) recurs at Enies Lobby, Marineford, Whole Cake, Onigashima.
  • Cross-link Arlong Empire Will Rule East Blue and Arlong Empire Vision — both seeds are physically inverted at the capital-structure level by this chapter.

Interior reveal (Ch. 92) — weapons-armory + partial-destruction by Luffy-vs-Arlong combat

  • Interior weapons-armory revealed (pages 12-13): upper-floor room with a sword-rack holding multiple bound katana plus the Shark Saw — a massive detached saw-toothed sword-class weapon mirroring Arlong’s nose-anatomy. First on-page Park interior beyond the pool-courtyard and Arlong’s throne-recliner room.
  • Building partially destroyed during Luffy-vs-Arlong combat (pages 11-15): Arlong throws Luffy through the entire Park building (BOOM!!!); Luffy is bounced through interior pillars and walls (SHUNK!!! / WHDOM!! / WHAM!! / THWUMP!!!); the exterior pagoda roof crumbles visibly (page 15 — FWUMP / KRASH!!! / THUD). The Park is in mid-collapse at chapter close. Pre-loads the arc-climax Luffy-destroys-Arlong-Park beat (Ch. 93+).

Battle damage (Ch. 91) — Arlong’s Shark Darts breaches the park’s outer stone structure from the pool

Arc-climax-combat-arena (Ch. 90)

  • Destroyed-courtyard composition throughout the chapter (pages 2-17). The Ch. 73 courtyard-massacred-mystery + Ch. 74 courtyard-wrecked + Ch. 86 Genzo-dives-from-the-pool-deck aggregate visual is now the arc-climax combat-arena.
  • Stone columns/pillars are weaponized (pages 6-7 — Arlong’s head hammered into a column, column-chewed). The Park’s architecture functions as a non-trivial combat-prop — Luffy uses the columns to disarm Arlong’s teeth-into-stone trap.
  • Pavement-slabs are weaponized (page 8 — Luffy crushes a slab with his fist as a species-supremacy-axiom rebuttal). The Park’s hardness/mass register is operationally part of the combat-grammar.

Pool-as-strategic-asset (Ch. 89 page 12)

  • Arlong demonstrates the pool is more than environmental flavor — he dives into it to drag Luffy’s chained-stone deeper as a tactical move. The Arlong Park architecture (pool + fish-man-friendly geometry) is operationally a weapon-extension of Arlong rather than mere set-dressing. Compounds with Arlong Park Shark-Architecture.

Combat-set-piece chapter — pier + pool (Ch. 83)

Arlong Park (Straw-Hat-arrival chapter — bench-hall + courtyard + dock) (Ch. 82)

  • Bench-hall + entrance dock (page 2) — Luffy walks up the wooden dock to Arlong’s bench-hall; SHFF SHFF SHFF foot-sounds on dock-planks; shark-architecture in background.
  • Central courtyard (pages 3-12) — Luffy demolishes Arlong-Pirates mooks across the courtyard; Sanji/Zoro/Usopp arrive and interpose at the courtyard’s edge.
  • Pool / dock-mouth (pages 9-12) — Momoo emerges from the water at the dock-mouth (Hatchan’s trumpet summons him from underwater).
  • Off-park line-of-sight to Cocoyasi villagers (page 8) — the chapter shows villagers/Yosaku narrating from outside the park; the park is visually-connected to the surrounding township (cf. Ch. 74 install).
  • First chapter with Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, Usopp all on-page at the park simultaneously.

Arlong Park (chapter 81 — trap-deal revealed + Luffy crashes the gate)

  • Nezumi’s Marine ship docks at the harbor with Nami’s 93M-berry seized cache (page 2). The Arlong-Pirates / Marine-corruption pipeline operates publicly.
  • Arlong delivers the trap-deal reveal in the throne-room / dome (pages 3-4): “a deal’s a deal. …It’s only 100 million berries.”
  • Officer line of defense at the entrance (page 16): Hatchan, Kuroobi, Choo.
  • Luffy crashes the gate (page 17, KA-BLAM!!!!). First Luffy-Arlong eye-contact. The chapter ends here; the Arlong-arc combat-resolution opens next chapter.

Arlong Park (Ch. 73) — Front Entrance + Interior Courtyard

  • Front entrance with a dock for Momoo (page 2). Hatchan summons Momoo from an underwater kelp/anemone cave (page 3, silhouette spread).
  • Interior courtyard (pages 15-17) shown for the first time wide-pan: tile floor, courtyard architecture, sun-tower roof with ARLONG signage. Strewn with unconscious fishmen at chapter end.
  • The park retains a Grand-Line creature (Momoo) as combat-asset.

Arlong Park (interior install) (Ch. 71) — Interior on-page for the first time; pool/courtyard at center; recliner-throne for Arlong; pagoda interior; jail mentioned

  • Interior shown on-page for the first time (Ch. 71 pages 5-14). Layout: central pagoda with ARLONG PARK Roman-letter signage on facade; large pool/courtyard at center; recliner-throne for Arlong on one side; columns and palm trees around the perimeter; gateposts visible from interior.
  • Pool is the chapter’s central set-piece — Zoro tripped into it (page 10), fishmen react with banana-peel-or-suicide puzzlement (page 11), Nami dives in (page 11), Usopp pulls Zoro out from the gate-side (page 12).
  • Jail mentioned on-page for the first time (Ch. 71 page 14 — Nami: “Throw him in jail.” — Zoro becomes Arlong Park’s first known prisoner). The jail’s location within the park is not yet shown.
  • Arlong leaves the park on-page for the first time (Ch. 71 pages 14-17) — heads to Coco Village to investigate the Usopp-escape rumor.

Arlong Park (debut on-page) (Ch. 69)

Arlong Park (opener) (Ch. 70)

  • First appearance (page 1 establishing-shot, named via on-page signage).
  • Gate composition is bookend-staged in the chapter: opens with the gate as establishing-shot (page 1), closes with the gate opening to receive Usopp (page 18, WOOOOOO horn SFX).
  • Arlong’s territorial control named on-page: “these waters are Arlong’s lake.” (page 6).
  • Interior is not yet shown on-page — Ch. 71+ pending.

Notes

  • The arc-title pattern (Baratie for Baratie, Arlong Park for Arlong Park) is consistent across the East Blue saga.

Interior reveal — Ch. 74

  • First chapter where the full interior is on-page. Architectural elements made visible:
    • Central pool (pages 2, 6, 11) — a rectangular reflecting/swimming pool framed by columns; the pool is the chapter’s central combat-space and where Usopp’s body is splashed (page 15).
    • Pool surrounded by columned arcades (page 2 wide-shot) — Greek/Roman-style arches with palm trees flanking; the fortress-architecture-as-spa composition.
    • Wooden bench-thrones (page 17 — Arlong seated on one with Nami beside him); the throne-as-bench informal-tyranny register.
    • Rack of long-staves / staff-weapons (page 8) — Nami pulls her bo-staff from a rack on the wall; the crew’s armory is integrated into the courtyard architecture.
    • Gate-as-mouth (carried over from Ch. 70) — the giant grinning-shark figurehead-gate continues to function as the entrance composition.
    • Adjacent buildings within line-of-sight (page 14) — Johnny witnesses from a building’s window, implying the surrounding township (Coco Village outskirts) is visually-connected to Arlong Park.
  • The courtyard was wrecked by Zoro (pre-chapter) — broken columns, downed fish-men strewn across the pool-deck (page 6, DA-DOOM!! establishing-shot). The wreckage from the Ch. 71-73 off-screen Zoro-rampage is fully visible.
