The most powerful pirate crew of its era — formed of multiple legendary
captains who would later become the Yonko, but were officers under Rocks
during this era. Disbanded after the God Valley Incident , where they were
defeated by a combined force of Roger ’s Roger Pirates and
Garp ’s Marines.
The crew’s roster at God Valley is the foundational reveal that all four
modern Yonko-era crews descend from. The God Valley reveal is one of Oda’s
most plot-load-bearing connections; cross-reference Rocks and God Valley .

Roger’s exact relationship to Rocks Pirates is ambiguous.
Garp’s testimony in ch 957 treats Roger as a peer/independent at the time
of God Valley, but multiple seeds suggest he may have been a younger Rocks
crew member before founding his own. Re-verify against actual chapter art.

A history-lesson flashback (~42 years ago). The crew raids the corrupt M Bezel International Charity Sanctuary (Wang Zhi ’s laughing gunfire; Shiki ’s live-burial prank on Kyo ), is ambushed by the Navy, and Rocks orders “Sink ‘em all… and take their loot!!!” (pp. 2-6). Narration tallies the “era of Rocks” : within two years of founding — 16 raids, 76 sunken ships, 25 covered-up crimes, three violations of Article 18 of World Law , one kingdom ruined, 14 ports burned, five towns leveled (pp. 7-8). Months after seizing Pirate Island (Fullalead ), the crew is shown at its fish-shaped-rock hangout. On-page roster: Rocks D. Xebec Kaido Charlotte Linlin Streusen Captain John Mobster Kyo (Shiki’s rival), and the catfish fish-man Barbell
Rocks’ stated goals: two Devil Fruits — one on Elbaf , “unlockable only if Harald eats it” — the legendary frozen giants Galleila Elbaf is the key to taking down the Holy Land. ” (“follow me on the fateful day of our mission… I’ll show you the peak of the world!!”, pp. 16–19).
Internal friction: Kaido predicts “This crew is bound to fall apart sooner or later,” and Rocks threatens to “get rid of you first, Kaido!!”
The crew’s coming-together is shown for the first time: Rocks assembled his “very solid lineup” through the Davy Back Fight Don Marlon Ganzui Pirate Island / Fullalead “King of the World” (p. 16). “Four years later” the crew set sail and made the world “quake with terror” (p. 17).
Ch. 1154 pp. 16–17 —
pre-crew: young Xebec raids Elbaf
Before founding the Rocks Pirates, Rocks D. Xebec Elbaf and hunting King Harald Navy-HQ-admiral killer with a heavy government bounty. The two-page caption names him “future captain of the Rocks Pirates (father of Blackbeard) .” He finds the crying, “demonic” young Loki . See Rocks , King Harald , Rocks and God Valley .
Ch. 1073 p. 14 — Buckingham Stussy captioned a “Former Rocks Pirate”
Buckingham Stussy (Miss Buckin ) is captioned directly a “Former Rocks Pirate” (also “MADS Freeloader, self-styled scientist”) in the Sphinx flashback — her own on-page caption (vs the Ch. 1072 naming via her clone’s data-caption), confirming her membership and tying the Rocks-era banned-science lineage to MADS and to Vegapunk Miss Buckin , Rocks and God Valley .
Ch. 1072 p. 17 (caption): A new Rocks Pirates member is named — Miss Buckingham Stussy (alias of Miss Buckin ) — surfaced via the data-caption of the CP0 agent Stussy , who is her MADS cloneCh. 957 God Valley exposition; it ties the World Government’s elite intelligence (Stussy ) directly to the Rocks lineage. Her Rocks-era role/era/fate is otherwise unrevealed on-page. See Miss Buckin , Rocks and God Valley .Ch. 907 p. 6: The crew’s era first surfaces on-page — “Before Roger, it was their era!!” (40+ years ago). The Marines fear that “even without the captain, their strength is growing,” implying surviving members among the current Emperors (see Big Mom , Kaido this chapter). (VIZ scan renders the captain’s name “Roxy”; the crew itself is not named here — only the era is invoked.) Ch. 1041 pp. 14-15 —
the young Kaido–Linlin Rocks bond
A flashback confirms Kaido and Big Mom (Linlin) served together on the Rocks Pirates in their youth — Kaido met Linlin and asked “Is this your first time teaming up with Rocks?” — and the two swore a personal oath “to claim the One Piece together” (Kaido wept with emotion afterward, “tears in his beer”). Ch. 1049 — Kaido’s recruitment era + Fullalead as recruiting ground
