Firsts
  • The God Valley Incident is shown directly as a Celestial-Dragon 'rabbit hunt' murder-game: noble houses (Figarland, Bavette, Manmayer, Shepherd) compete for points by hunting enslaved 'hated people' (buccaneers, incl. the Davy Clan); survive three weeks = freedom.
  • Scoring: 150 rare rabbits, 13 super-rare rabbits worth 10,000 pts each, plus prize targets like 'the 10,000-point Buccaneer'; a family competition plus an individual race, with bets placed at Mariejois.
  • 'St. Gunko' of the Manmayer family is the individual-race favorite ('devoted blade of God'), placing her at God Valley.
  • Garling (Figarland family) leads the family competition and is credited with 'finding them' (the Davy Clan).
  • The Rocks Pirates raid God Valley for treasure and Devil Fruits; a horned officer asks Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom) for a Devil Fruit; Newgate (Whitebeard) and Wang Zhi are present; the crew fixates on the young Shakky.
  • The Roger Pirates also land after treasure and likewise vie to 'rescue' Shakky.
  • Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp arrives with his fleet as reinforcements.
  • A dying buccaneer father begs a rescuer to take his twin boys 'to someone kind-hearted... just don't let HIM have them... raise them into men.'

Summary

A flashback to the God Valley Incident, staged as a Celestial-Dragon “rabbit hunt.” The World Nobles put the reviled Davy Clan of buccaneers on display and open a points-based murder-game across their houses — Figarland, Bavette, Manmayer, and Shepherd — with a family competition and an individual race, bet on from Mariejois. Garling (Figarland) is credited with finding the quarry and leads; St. Gunko of the Manmayer family is the individual favorite. As the hunters butcher fleeing captives, the Rocks Pirates land after treasure and Devil Fruits (a horned officer angles Charlotte Linlin for a fruit; Newgate and Wang Zhi are present, and the crew squabbles over the young beauty Shakky). Then the Roger Pirates land too — also after treasure, also vying to seize Shakky. The Holy Knights of God deploy to shield the Celestial Dragons as pirates pour onto every shore, and the chapter closes on Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp arriving with his fleet: “Here I am, baby!!”
