God Valley

Etymology

The name is rendered in katakana as ゴッドバレー (Goddo Barē) — a direct transliteration of English “God Valley” (God + valley), not a native Japanese coinage (it is not 神の谷 / “Kami no Tani”). The literal reading is certain; the resonance is thematic: an island carrying “God” in its name is exactly where the Celestial Dragons — who present themselves as the world’s gods — held their ground with their slaves, and which the World Government then erased entirely from history. “Valley” (a low basin) also reads against an island that vanished without a trace.
