- The name encodes the grift on BOTH language layers. VIZ's '**M. Bezel**' is a near-homophone of '**embezzle**' — the corrupt 'charity' that hoards donations meant for hungry children has the crime baked into its name. The Japanese original name is フットコロニー ('**Foot Colony**'), which puns on 懐に (**futokoro ni**), 'into one's bosom/pocket' — i.e. pocketing the money — so the JP name means 'pocketing all the donations.' VIZ localized the futokoro-ni pun into the equivalent English pun 'embezzle,' preserving the same meaning. Either way the temple's fraud is announced by its name — a classic Oda on-the-nose villain-institution pun.
