• Ch. 59 — Krieg’s winner-takes-all doctrine articulated in cleanest form (page 4: “In this world, it’s winner-take-all!! Losers get nothing!!”) — first on-page doctrine-articulation distinguishing Krieg from prior East Blue villains as a doctrinal-pure villain. Krieg deploys Zeff as hostage (page 16: “Not when we’ve got our hostage!!”). Pearl returns as the chapter’s active combatant pressing Sanji; iron-shield body composition, fire-shield combat mode, ”…SURPRISE!!!” signature attack. Gin defies Krieg’s orders for the first time (page 17): ordered to “Blow a hole in Zeff’s head” (page 11) and “Double-check Pearl” (page 16), Gin instead attacks Pearl with twin tonfa-clubs, shattering Pearl’s iron-shield carapace. • Ch. 44 page 14 — First reputation-mention. ‘Krieg! Krieg’s pirates?!’ / ‘They’re the toughest pirates in the Eastern Seas!!!’ (Marine officer dialogue).
• Ch. 44 pages 15-21 — Gin (officer) walks into the Baratie after escaping Marine custody, beaten by Patty for non-payment, secretly fed by Sanji. Inciting incident for the arc’s Krieg-Pirates arrival.
• Ch. 45 — Crew structure and scale first named on-page (Patty pages 9-10: Don of the Pirate Armada — a consortium of 50 pirate crews. He commands 5,000 killers). First on-page silhouette of the fleet (page 10 panel 2). Krieg first named (page 9), first silhouette in doorway (page 19), first spoken dialogue (page 19, off-panel). Gin formally named as Pirate-at-Arms via caption card (page 7).
• Ch. 45 page 19 — implicit prior event: the fleet has been wrecked. Gin: ‘I didn’t know the flagship was in such a condition…’ The wrecker is unrevealed in this chapter (Mihawk; payoff Ch. 50).
• Ch. 45 page 19 — operational cliffhanger: Gin commits to guide Krieg’s damaged flagship to the Baratie. “To Baratie Oceangoing Restaurant! I’ll guide you there.” See Gin Guides Krieg To Baratie.
• Ch. 46 page 8 — Jolly Roger debut on-page: skull with crossed hourglasses behind it. In-chapter gloss spoken aloud: “The hourglasses beside the skull mean that time’s run out for their enemies…” Rare instance of Oda inserting the Jolly-Roger reading directly into dialogue. • Ch. 46 pages 10-11 — Krieg flagship arrives at the Baratie as a wreck. The full extent of the off-page damage is shown: a vast splintered galleon. The wrecker is unrevealed (Mihawk, payoff Ch. 50).
• Ch. 46 pages 12-19 — Krieg’s full on-page debut: broken-titan begging pose (page 12) → predator-titan recovery silhouette (page 18) → punches the cook who fed him and seizes the restaurant (page 19). The crew’s signature flag-based duplicity (Patty’s exposition page 17) is enacted in the same chapter it is described — white-flag-then-attack is performed on Sanji as a mercy-betrayal. • Ch. 48 — Krieg’s self-introduction (page 6: ‘I am Don Krieg, the mightiest of all!’). One Piece declared as crew goal (page 7: ‘capture the One Piece and lord it over this great age of pirates!’ — one of the earliest on-page villain-side One-Piece declarations). Krieg’s demand crystallized: Zeff’s logbook + the Baratie itself (pages 5, 7, 12). Armada destruction recounted in scene: 50 ships / 5,000 men, smashed to bits in <7 days on the Grand Line, principally by a single swordsman (the Hawk-Eyes / Mihawk-tease) — the flagship saved only by a storm (pages 11, 18-19). Jolly Roger close-up (page 12): black skull, two crossed cannons on a circular shield — crew-name-encodes-captain-weapon (Krieg = war → cannons). Krieg exits temporarily to deliver food to his starving men (page 12). Krieg weeps recounting Mihawk (page 19): ‘I don’t want to remember that man!’ — the villain-broken-by-greater-villain beat. Gin is named on-page in-dialogue first time (page 14) and delivers the Mihawk-recollection on Luffy’s prompt (pages 17-19). • Ch. 47 — Krieg names the real demand: the Baratie itself, not food (page 3). Stated armada size: 50 ships, 5,000 fighting men (page 17, panel 3) vs. ~100 men remaining alive (page 4, panel 1) — the 4,900-man gap is the chapter’s structural mystery. Krieg’s body-as-weapons-platform exposition — wootz-steel carapace + diamond fists + integrated firearms (pages 14-17). Survives the Meatball of Doom direct hit without damage (pages 9-13) — first on-page demonstration the crew’s captain is armor-resistant to East Blue weapons. Trivializes the Baratie cooks in two full pages (pages 14-15). “Tyrant of the Eastern Seas” epithet first stated on-page (page 19, panel 4). Recognized as a Grand Line returnee by Zeff (page 19, panels 2-3) — first East-Blue-named pirate explicitly named as Grand-Line-defeated. • Ch. 49 — The armada-destruction is named on-page as “by one man” (page 2: Patty reads the headline “KRIEG’S ARMADA WAS WRECKED BY ONE MAN!?”). Krieg announces the return to the Grand Line (page 9: “…and now we can… return to the Grand Line!”); the crew freezes (“To certain death!?” / “Return?”). Krieg shoots one of his own crewmen point-blank in the face (page 10, BANG!!) for expressing fear about returning — the terror-loyalty axiom on-page installation. Plan: abandon the hulk and board the Baratie (page 11: “A bunch of hooligan cooks can’t stop us!! Now let’s abandon this hulk and board the restaurant ship.”). Flagship rammed by a giant sea-creature alongside the Baratie (pages 13-16, “Listing? My flagship galleon!!?”) — the crew loses its last surviving vessel to the sea. • Ch. 50 — Fleet aftermath shown in wide-shot. The sunken Krieg fleet (fifty-plus ships) drifts in open East Blue water (page 2, full-width landscape panel, “WOOOOO!!” SFX). The cleaved Krieg flagship is shown on-page for the first time (page 16, panel 1, wide horizontal panel: split in half by a single sword-stroke). The Ch. 47/48 off-page fleet-destruction reference is here drawn. Mihawk on-page confirms the galleon-split (page 16, panel 2: “Of course.” in answer to “You split this galleon with that sword?”). Survivors witness the destroyer arrive at Baratie (page 10): Yosaku/Johnny dread-shout “DON KRIEG!!! IT’S HIM!!!” — mistaking the arriving silhouette for Krieg himself (it is Mihawk). The double-stacked dread-grammar (Krieg-as-the-bigger-fear → Mihawk-as-the-actual-fear) is composed in five pages. Don Krieg himself is not on-page in Ch. 50 — the chapter is the post-debut deployment of the named-before-shown villain-grammar via fleet-wreckage and survivor-testimony. • Ch. 51 — Witness-chorus role to the Mihawk-Zoro duel. “Look what that dandy did to my ship!!” (page 3, panel 3 — Krieg-survivor identifies Mihawk as that dandy). “He stopped brother Zolo’s Onigiri Demon Cut!!!” (page 7 — survivor exposits the named technique on-page). “The sword that split the ship!!” / “He’s drawn it!!!” (page 17 — survivors recognize the Yoru being drawn). The Krieg-survivor witness chorus is the operational chapter-role for the crew in Ch. 51.
• Ch. 52 — Reinforcement-wave arrives at the Baratie (pages 18-19). Krieg himself off-page in the chapter; cover-splash portrait on page 2. The crew is represented by an arriving reinforcement fleet announced via THROOM / WOOOOO SFX. The Baratie cook (Carne/Patty) labels the arrivals “the locusts” (page 19, panel 4) — a plague-class metaphor for the Krieg-reinforcement-wave. Forward-link: Ch. 53 combat-payload. • Ch. 53 — The crew rallies around Krieg’s Baratie-seizure plan. Krieg articulates the Baratie-as-disguise-vessel doctrine in full (pages 2-3): “It’s better than posing as a navy ship, or waving a white flag… we can approach any ship we want without arousing suspicion… and launch a surprise attack.” The Ch. 46 white-flag-duplicity doctrine and the Ch. 46 I’ll take it. Nice restaurant. seizure-line are functionally unified. A coward is shot (page 4) — terror-loyalty axiom re-deployed in a chapter Krieg is supposedly rebuilding morale. Krieg misattributes Mihawk’s galleon-split to Devil Fruit (page 4) — wrong-inference-right-exposition: installs the Grand-Line-DF-density rule in-universe via Krieg’s mouth. Zeff named as the Grand-Line-survival benchmark (page 5); the logbook hypothesized to contain the One Piece location (page 6). The crew rallies (page 6): “YARRRRR!!! All right, ye sea-wolves!! Let’s capture that fish!!!” — the chapter installs the Krieg-rebuilds-from-the-wreckage register. Multiple sub-ships sunk by the Baratie’s Mackerel Head I (page 14); Krieg himself rammed by the Mackerel Head at chapter’s end (page 17). The crew’s East-Blue-strongest-but-Shichibukai-class-fodder tier-positioning continues — the chapter’s combat-action is cook-vessel-vs-pirate-fleet with the cooks winning every exchange. • Ch. 54 — Numbered-unit officer hierarchy on-page revealed: Pearl is introduced with the caption-card “KRIEG’S PIRATES SECOND UNIT COMMANDER — ‘INVINCIBLE PEARL’” (page 8). The crew is organized into numbered combat units with their own officer-commanders; Second Unit Commander implies a First and further numbered officers. The 5,000-man, 50-crew confederation claim is operationally credibilized by the bureaucratic-officer structure. First on-page East Blue crew with a numbered-officer command structure — the organizational template for later armada-class antagonists. New on-page epithet for Krieg (page 4 underling boast): “Don Krieg, Lord of the East Blue” — the Krieg epithet-stack is now four-deep. Krieg-Pirates rank-and-file out-fought by the Baratie cooks in opening melee (pages 4-6, “these guys are tough!! They are tougher than the sharks we’ve chased off before!!”) — Pearl’s officer-tier entrance (pages 7-8) is the response to the rank-and-file’s failure. Pearl’s “Pearl Surprise” killer-punch off-page knocks out Patty and Carne (page 9). Pearl’s combat-axiom (61 battles, no blood loss, page 15) installed as a boast-built-to-be-broken. Pearl engages Sanji (pages 13-15), loses the first exchanges to Sanji’s kicks, then re-targets Luffy with a spiked chain-mace (pages 16-17). • Ch. 55 — First named Krieg-officer (other than Gin) on-page in extended combat: Pearl debuts. Massive armor-tank fire-thrower; self-styled ‘Invincible Pearl’; jungle-trauma backstory delivered by fellow officers (page 5). Loses to Sanji’s counter-kick (page 11-12), is rebounded by Sanji’s foot-rebound mid-Bazooka (page 17). Chapter ends mid-Krash. The crew’s officer corps gains its third named member (Krieg, Gin, Pearl). Unnamed officer-corps members visible in calming-Pearl scenes (pages 2-5, 7) imply a fuller officer roster pending later chapters. • Ch. 56 — Pearl (lieutenant) deployed against the Baratie cooks (pages 2-14), defeated by Sanji’s counter-kick (page 14). Krieg himself remains offstage on his ship; laughter audible (page 15, “BWAH HA HA HA HA HA!!” + “INVINCIBLE!!”). Gin continues as field-officer pressuring the Baratie crew to surrender (pages 3, 8: “Get off this ship!!” / “Leave this ship and you’ll all be spared!!”). The crew’s deploy-lieutenant-while-captain-laughs-from-offstage operational tier is staged.
• Ch. 60 — MH5 Poison-Gas Cannonball revealed (pages 8-10): first on-page WMD-tier weapon in the series. The crew’s own terror at the deployment order (“P-please, Don Krieg, not that!!!”) + the dive-for-cover beat (page 11: “DANGER! DIVE DEEP!!!”) confirms the round is feared by the deployer’s own crew. The actual fired round is a shuriken-bomb decoy (pages 12-13) — Krieg’s modular cannonball-arsenal grammar. Pearl re-framed by Sanji’s running-commentary as “battle commander” (pages 3-5, in-text role-name; proper-name lands on the page-18 popularity poll) — a Sanji-side label distinct from the Ch. 54 caption-card “Second Unit Commander” designation. Krieg articulates the anti-honor villain-axis doctrine (page 9: “This is war! All that matters is victory! …I detest sentimental tripe like ‘honor’ and ‘mercy.’”). Krieg orders Gin to kill Sanji (page 15) — Gin’s ”…!” beat-mark + “Understood, Don Krieg” is the loyalty-crack’s first direct-order stress-point. Krieg’s spiked-mace hand-weapon teased in silhouette (page 16). Krieg-Luffy duel locked via comparative King-of-the-Pirates claim (pages 7, 15, 17).
• Ch. 61 — Officer hierarchy clarification (Krieg-canonical). Krieg (page 7) names Gin as “my battle commander” / “cool-headed, trusted demon man”. The Krieg-Pirates’ officer-hierarchy reads (highest to lowest, canonical Ch. 61):

  2. Battle Commander / Demon Man: Gin (also: Pirate-at-Arms per Ch. 45)

The Ch. 60 Sanji-commentary battle commander reference is here clarified as referring to Gin (sarcasm-or-distance), not Pearl. Update prior Pearl Ch. 60 inference accordingly. Krieg deploys the modular Battle-Bear-style shield-platform (pages 9-11) — circular jolly-roger shield with explosive payload + extending spike-stakes + multi-barrel gunfire from concentric rim chambers. Krieg-as-arsenal grammar extends to shield-as-arsenal. Krieg articulates the Armed Might / No Desire Required doctrine (page 13: “Battle demands only the tools and methods of death!”). Gin refuses Krieg’s direct kill-order (page 17, “DON KRIEG!!! I CAN’T DO IT!!!!”) — chapter ends mid-captain’s-reaction (“IMBECILE!!”, KLANK…!!). • Ch. 62 — Internal discipline visibly fractures: multiple Krieg-Pirate crewmen voice protest at Krieg’s expulsion order on Gin (page 6: “But… Don Krieg… Aye, nobody ever served him as loyally as Gin. Gin’s Don Krieg’s right hand! You’re addled!! He wouldn’t go that far!! The Don’s gonna kill Gin!!”) — first visible internal protest against a Krieg order. The Ch. 49 terror-loyalty axiom is empirically finite-effective at the officer-tier escalation. First Krieg-Pirates canonical flashback (page 7): post-Grand-Line escape pursued by Ironfist Fullbody’s Marine squadron; “Commander Gin disguised himself as the Don, and acted as a decoy!” — the crew’s collective memory of Gin’s body-double act during the Fullbody pursuit. The Krieg-Pirates’ loyalty-to-Krieg is partly built on the Gin-saved-our-captain tradition. Gin’s rank canonized (page 2): “Battle Commander of the Pirate Armada” — fleet-tier second-in-command. Officer hierarchy: Captain (Krieg) → Battle Commander of the Armada (Gin) → Unit Commanders (Pearl = Second Unit Commander, others unnamed). The Ch. 45 Pirate-at-Arms caption-card was an under-translation of Battle Commander. MH5 operationally deployed at ship-scale (pages 11-15): the crew uses gas masks (page 5: “Put your masks on!”); deploys the round; jumps overboard in masks (“DIVE DEEP!!” / “PLUMP! WHAP!!” page 13). The crew is operationally trained in MH5 deployment — the weapon is routine doctrine, not a one-off improvisation. • Ch. 63 — Krieg knocked down for the first time on-page (pages 13-14, TA-DOOM) by Luffy’s Gum-Gum Bullet bypassing the spiked porcupine-cape. Krieg-Pirates witness-chorus: “I’ve never seen the Don go down, not even on one knee!!” (page 13) — first on-page crew-doubt beat for the Krieg-Pirates; the Krieg-invincibility axiom is invalidated by chorus-witness. Spiked porcupine-cape revealed (page 11) — the Ch. 60 spiked-mace silhouette is reinterpreted as a back-mounted bladed-defensive cape. Krieg’s full cannon-array barrage (page 8: BAM BAM BAM BAM) — Ch. 47 page-14 firing-every-gun-on-his-body composition re-deployed. Krieg dismisses dying Gin as “a kindness” (page 2) — the captain-kills-his-own-crew axiom re-deployed at indirect-collateral register. Gin poisoned by Krieg’s own MH5 residual gas (pages 2-4) — the Ch. 60 MH5 round had a hybrid payload (shuriken-bomb + small-area poison-residual). Krieg’s eye for an eye reciprocity-doctrine (page 10) and whose place to die is it? counter-doctrine (pages 17-19) added to villain-axis grammar. The chapter ends mid-combat with both captains trading place-to-die claims. • Ch. 64 — The crew’s chorus registers Krieg’s reputation as shattered (page 4, a Krieg-pirate, GRRR!!: ‘His reputation is shattered…’). First internal acknowledgment from rank-and-file that the Tyrant of the Eastern Seas epithet is no longer operationally valid. The Ch. 47 epithet-stack reaches its first erosion event from inside the crew. Krieg deploys the Mighty Battle Spear (page 5) as his active melee weapon — adds the active hand-weapon tier to the crew’s combat grammar. The cooks register Luffy as defeated mid-chapter (page 17, ‘The boy wasn’t a match for Krieg, after all!!!’) — false-defeat beat; the Krieg-Pirates’ moment of perceived victory is the chapter’s structural setup for the page-18 reversal. Baratie aftermath (Ch. 67) — Surviving crew evacuated on Baratie supply boat; Gin renounces the crew on-page

The Baratie’s supply boat is given to the Krieg-survivors over Patty/Carne’s objections (page 6). The crew departs alive. Gin, the Pirate-at-Arms lieutenant, renounces the crew on-page (page 5: “From now on, I’m going to steer my own course”). The Krieg Pirates’ command-structure is now down its lieutenant; Krieg’s on-page status is unresolved (off-page entire chapter). The crew’s post-Baratie trajectory is narratively suspended — survivors of the Mihawk-then-Luffy-then-MH5 sequence depart East Blue without an on-page destination.

Crew structure (per Ch. 45)

• Don of the Pirate Armada — Krieg is captain of a 50-crew confederation (consortium of 50 sub-crews) totaling ~5,000 combatants. First on-page armada-class pirate organization in the series; sets the template for later confederation antagonists (Buggy/Alvida’s Cross Guild, much later). The other 49 sub-crews are unnamed in Ch. 45.
