The seed
The specificity (the single drop, the 61-count) is the Oda boast-built-to-be-broken grammar’s signature — every villain who boasts a specific unbroken-record has the record broken on-page within the arc. Cf. Buggy “I’ll never be cut” (Ch. 17, cut Ch. 21), Krieg “the mightiest of all” (Ch. 48, lost to Mihawk pre-chapter), Don Krieg’s wootz armor (Ch. 47 boast → cut by Mihawk’s Ch. 50 sword).
Why it matters
Pearl is built around the boast — his entire visual design (the shield-body, the shield-smoothness vanity) is the boast made physical. Breaking the boast structurally requires the character to react to bleeding — the first-drop-triggers-panic sub-pattern is what the chapter sets up. Forward-payoff for Ch. 55.
