The seed
Krieg is the first on-page East Blue captain explicitly named as a Grand Line returnee. The chapter delivers the first on-page narrative confirmation of the earlier rhetorical warnings: the Grand Line is not merely dangerous, it is the place that turns East Blue’s strongest pirate (5,000 men, 50 ships) into a starving 100-man wreck.
The Ch. 46 page 10 visible flagship damage and the Ch. 45 page 19 Gin remark (“I didn’t know the flagship was in such a condition…”) are the visual and dialogue seeds; Ch. 47 page 19 is the named-destination confirmation. The chapter uses this not as exposition but as Zeff’s rhetorical weapon against Krieg.

Why this matters
Establishes the East-Blue-vs-Grand-Line power-gap on-page for the first time, by demonstration rather than rhetoric. Compare the earlier in-text warnings (Grand Line Bloodbath Warning, Grand Line Is The Pirates Graveyard) which were rhetorical; Ch. 47 makes the warning visible as a wreck on the horizon (page 4) and audible in Krieg’s stammer (page 19).
This is the demonstration-replaces-rhetoric beat — Oda’s recurring grammar where a previously-warned-about danger is finally shown to be real via a named character’s broken body. The pattern recurs across the series: Whitebeard’s death at Marineford (the yonko-are-mortal demonstration), Kaido’s silhouette in Sabaody (the yonko-are-real demonstration), the Pluton-blueprint reveal at Water 7 (the ancient-weapons-are-real demonstration). Ch. 47 page 19 is the East Blue version of the demonstration-replaces-rhetoric beat — the Grand-Line-is-deadly warning gets its first on-page demonstration on a named, quantified, epithet-bearing East Blue captain.
