The seed
Companion seed: page 2’s “KRIEG’S ARMADA WAS WRECKED BY ONE MAN!?” — establishes that the Krieg armada was the East Blue’s largest and was wrecked by a single Grand Line individual (Mihawk). The Grand Line broke even the East Blue’s strongest fleet.
Expected payoff
Within the Baratie arc:
- Krieg attempts to take the Baratie to use as a Grand-Line-ready vessel.
- The full Krieg armada backstory is revealed in flashback.
- The Grand Line’s lethality is narrated in detail via Krieg-crew testimony.
Forward across the series:
- Every later defeated-by-Grand-Line antagonist (Bellamy, Foxy, etc.) inherits the broken-and-fleeing visual register that Krieg debuts here.
- The armada-wrecked-by-one-man framing recurs at the Whitebeard-tier (Marineford), the Yonko-tier, the Admiral-tier.
Why this matters
This is the East-Blue / Grand-Line threshold seed at the villain side — Grand Line Bloodbath Warning (Ch. 7) was the threshold seed at the protagonist side (Koby’s warning to Luffy). Together they bracket the threshold. Future-Claude: any character whose backstory includes “survived the Grand Line” is composed in Krieg’s visual register; any character who thrived on the Grand Line is composed at the Mihawk tier.
