Why this matters
The chapter calibrates the top-tier power-scale of the One Piece world. Before Ch. 48, the reader has no on-page reference for what a top-tier individual fighter can do at scale. After Ch. 48, the reader has the one-man-vs-armada benchmark: a top-tier individual can erase an armada in days.
Predictive use: every later top-tier introduction is implicitly measured against this benchmark. When Whitebeard appears, when Kaido appears, when the Admirals appear — the reader uses 50 ships in 7 days as the floor of individually-capable-of-erasing-an-armada. The benchmark is also Oda’s tool for non-inflating power-scaling: most top-tier characters don’t exceed the one-man-vs-armada benchmark significantly until very late in the series.
