Crocodile 430 Cannonball Three-Mile-Crater Palace-Square Massacre Plot
Status: confirmed · Technique: chekhov-explicit · countdown-clock · mass-casualty-device
The seed
Ch. 206 pp. 1-5, 10-19 — the cannon is armed and counting down
The 4
massacre-cannonball is now physically on-page in the Alubarna clock tower, crewed by Mr. 7 + Ms. Father’s Day, counting down to
ignition (15s → 7s). The Strawhats’ Nami→Chopper→Sanji→Zoro tower-relay is the defusal attempt this seed pre-loaded. Not yet resolved (cliffhanger). The Pell-self-sacrifice payoff remains forward-canon. Cross-link

Ch. 203 pp. 14-16 — the cannon’s location deduced;
Red Serpent Star signal
Under the ticking clock-tower countdown, Vivi deduces the three-mile-crater cannon must occupy a single huge secluded space; Usopp fires a Red Serpent Star to mark it. The cannonball Chekhov advances toward its defusal climax. Cross-link Vivi , Usopp .
Ch. 202 pp. 2, 9-12, 19 — the countdown is live and the device-hunt begins
Crocodile sets the timer on-page (“In six minutes, the palace square will be blown sky high…” , p. 2). The Strawhats describe the device as an explosive capable of blowing up everything in a mile-and-a-half radius fired in an arc into the center of the square (pp. 9-10), and begin the search (Chopper sniffs, Usopp checks rooftops, Pell searches from the air, Chaka coordinates). The clock-tower TICK panels run the countdown down to four minutes by chapter’s end (p. 19). The arc-climax defuse-the-bomb set-piece is now operationally underway. Cross-link Pell , Chaka , Nami .
Ch. 200 pp. 2-6 — countdown enters its final ten minutes
The Alubarna clock-tower cross-cut (TICK… TICK… , pp. 2, 6, 18) confirms the 4
cannonball will hit the packed square in
ten minutes ; the blast is three miles in diameter and the gunner is at least a mile-and-a-half from the square (Vivi’s deduction, pp. 2-3). The Strawhats reframe the objective from “stop the war” to “find and stop the gunner,” scattering across the city to search. The countdown-clock prop ticks toward 4
alongside the Luffy-Crocodile duel.
Ch. 193 pp. 12-13 — the 4
three-mile-crater cannonball plot
Crocodile details a special cannonball fired into the packed palace square, producing a crater three miles in diameter and killing both the royal army and the rebels at once. He chooses this over palace-demolition: “It’s much faster just to blow the rebels up. Destroying the palace was such an indirect method.” The countdown-clock is set (fires in ~30 minutes; rebels arrive in ~20).
The payoff
The clock-tower cannon fires the BW-branded shell at the packed square (pp. 4-7). Pell , recovered and in giant falcon-Zoan form, slashes between the bomber crew and catches the falling bomb , then climbs skyward and detonates it harmlessly above the city (“It’s another… beautiful day,” pp. 14-15) — the self-sacrifice this seed explicitly predicted. Pell survives, badly hurt (p. 16). Twist: Crocodile reveals the bomb also carried a backup self-detonation timer (pp. 17-18), so the threat is not fully neutralized by the interception alone.
Why this matters
The saga-climax countdown-clock; pre-loads the forward-canon bomb-carried-skyward sacrifice beat. Crocodile abandons palace-demolition for direct dual-army annihilation — the mass-casualty device that the arc-finale must defuse.
