Why this family matters (plot weight)
Doflamingo’s “Royal Bloodlines” monologue to Law on Greenbit (Ch. 722 pp. 18–20) establishes the Donquixotes as one of the twenty “creator” families who founded the World Government and quit their thrones for Mariejoa as Celestial Dragons . The Donquixotes were the original royal family of Dressrosa ; their departure for the Holy Land is why the Riku Dynasty was installed as the kingdom’s new royal line. This pays off Doflamingo’s Cervantes “fallen noble” name at the lineage level and seeds his personal fallen-Celestial-Dragon backstory. Ch. 722 pp. 18–20 — the founding-bloodline reveal
Doflamingo recounts the world’s founding to Law: ~800 years ago twenty kings of twenty kingdoms united to form the World Government, and their descendants are the Celestial Dragons; the Donquixotes were one of the twenty “creator” families who left for Mariejoa , having been the original royal family of Dressrosa before the Riku Dynasty replaced them.
Ch. 723 p. 10 — Doflamingo personally confirms the lineage
Doflamingo himself confirms the family’s Celestial-Dragon status was real for him personally — “That’s right. I was one… but not anymore” — and teases an untold “distant past from before we met” with Law .
Ch. 726 — the Donquixote dynastic claim to Dressrosa; “the latest of the Don Quixote line”
A Tontatta account establishes that the Donquixote family ruled Dressrosa ~900 years ago and enslaved the Tontatta dwarves underground (pp. 14–15). Doflamingo is named “the latest of the Don Quixote line ” — the family that “have returned” to Dressrosa, re-imposing the old cycle: he has seized the Tontatta princess Mansherry and holds 500 Tontatta hostage , recreating the ancient enslavement from the throne the Riku Dynasty once held (p. 17).
Ch. 727 — “I am indeed from the Don Quixote line”
In the ~10-years-ago conquest flashback, Doflamingo announces himself to King Riku as “Don Quixote Doflamingo… from the Don Quixote line ” (p. 6), framing his claim on Dressrosa as a birthright. He is reported to not fear the Celestial Dragons , to have raided their Heavenly-Offering tribute ships, and to have strong-armed the World Government into a Warlord seat (pp. 6–7) — the on-page lineage claim reinforcing the founding-bloodline reveal.
Ch. 728 — the seizure completed; the family crowned at Dressrosa
The conquest flashback resolves: after framing King Riku , Doflamingo takes the palace and the throne — crowned the new king “in a single night” — reclaiming the Dressrosa throne the Donquixote line held before leaving for Mariejoa. His officers Diamante , Pica , Trebol , Baby 5 , Buffalo and Monet are on hand for the takeover (pp. 3–10).
Ch. 749 p. 17 — a Donquixote blood sibling named
Law reveals to Luffy that Doflamingo’s victim of thirteen years ago, Corazon Doflamingo’s younger brother — the first on-page confirmation of a Donquixote blood sibling. Corazon was also a supreme officer in the Donquixote pirate Family (“one of Mingo’s pals”).
Ch. 752 p. 5 — Doflamingo himself names “my brother Corazon”
Where @0749 it was Law who named the dead sibling, here Doflamingo confirms the blood relation from his own mouth — taunting the captured Law through his “String-Joker” decoy, “By who, my brother Corazon?! ” (p. 5). A second on-page confirmation of the Donquixote blood sibling.
Ch. 760 pp. 12–13 — the family’s voluntary fall and the “line of traitors”
Doflamingo names a family of four that “should give up the greatest power there is”: his father chose to renounce the Donquixotes’ Celestial-Dragon status and live among humans. At ten, Doflamingo killed his father and brought the head to Mariejois seeking reinstatement, but the Celestial Dragons “would not take back anyone from the ‘line of traitors .’” A second child — an unnamed younger brother — is shown in the flashback panels; the note already tracks Corazon as Doflamingo’s blood sibling (named on-page Ch. 749 ).
Ch. 761 p. 14 — Corazon first SHOWN; “Captain Dofy’s little brother”
The North-Blue flashback (16 years ago, Spider Miles ) gives the first on-page SHOWN appearance of the Donquixote blood sibling: Trebol identifies Corazon Law as “Captain Dofy’s little brother ” (p. 14), confirming Corazon as Doflamingo ’s younger brother and a Donquixote by blood. Corazon holds the Donquixote Family’s Heart (♥) officer seat .
Ch. 762 p. 2 — Corazon confirmed as Doflamingo’s blood brother under the “law of blood”
In the Spider Miles flashback, Doflamingo declares the Donquixote “law of blood” and names Corazon Corazon is my precious blood! If anyone so much as scratches my brother, they die by my hand!! ” — a third on-page confirmation of the Donquixote blood brother (after Law Ch. 749 and Doflamingo Ch. 752 ). The prior “Rosinante/Corazon membership is forward” guard remains LIFTED.
Ch. 763 pp. 5–9 — the family’s fall (“Declaration of Humanity”)
33 years ago, patriarch St. Don Quixote Homing renounced the family’s Celestial-Dragon status (the titular “Declaration of Humanity ”), surrendering the family’s I.D. chips and accepting exile to a non-WG kingdom “far, far to the north” (pp. 5–6). Recognized as fallen Dragons, the family was hunted by vengeful commoners — their home burned, the mother dead of illness/poverty, Homing beaten and tortured; the Dragons of Mariejoa refused to take the family back (“What is discarded cannot be returned”) (pp. 7–9). Ch. 764 p. 5 — Corazon names his purpose (“to stop my brother Dofy’s rampage”)
In the flashback, Corazon confirms once more he is Doflamingo ’s younger brother and states his mission — “to stop my brother Dofy’s rampage” — recoloring his place in the Family as a blood sibling working against it from within (as the undercover Marine Commander Don Quixote Rocinante).
Ch. 765 p. 4 — Doflamingo suspects his own blood brother
Doflamingo voices suspicion against “my own brother ” Corazon for leaking the Family’s movements to the Navy (p. 4), and frames Corazon eating the Op-Op Fruit as a condition of returning to “the family ” (p. 5) — sharpening the Doflamingo↔Rosinante fraternal break.
Ch. 766 pp. 11, 13–14 — Rocinante confirmed as Doflamingo’s brother
Vergo names Corazon “Rocinante ” and states “Dofy never suspected you, simply because you were his brother”; Doflamingo laments “my dear brother meant me harm .” Confirms Donquixote Rocinante / Corazon as Doflamingo’s younger brother and a blood member of the family.
Ch. 767 pp. 12, 15 — the Donquixote fratricide
Doflamingo guns down his own blood brother Corazon (Rosinante) — “Why must I be forced to kill my own family not once, but twice?!! ” (p. 12) — echoing his killing of their father Donquixote Homing . The Donquixote brothers’ fallen-Celestial-Dragon rift ends in fratricide; Corazon is confirmed deceased on-page (see Corazon ). Ch. 769 p. 10 — “forgave my father and brother… with death”

Ch. 782 pp. 13–15 — the officers claim to have
manufactured Doflamingo
Trebol tells Law that ~30 years ago the founding supreme officers found young Doflamingo ’s “limitless talent from heaven ” — after the boy killed his own father (Donquixote Homing ), brought the head to Sacred Marijoa , and was nearly killed there — and that they “raised him and shaped him into the Champion of Evil ,” indulging his cruelty (handing him a gun, killing those who wronged him, telling him “no one can defy your will, you are a king”) in exchange for him “showing us our dreams.” Re-affirms and extends the fallen-Celestial-Dragon backstory logged across the Corazon flashback (0760–0767).
Ch. 907 p. 16 — the surname on a present-day Celestial Dragon
At the Reverie, the saved World Noble reveals himself on-page as St. Don Quixote Mjosgard — confirming the Donquixote line still holds World-Noble members at Mary Geoise (distinct from Doflamingo ’s renounced branch). members += Saint Myosgard .
Ch. 908 p. 6 — Myosgard named a Donquixote (second on-page attachment)
At the Reverie a Celestial Dragon laments the “mad” Don Quixote clan , pairing Homing (“who left for the lower world 30 years ago”) with “That Don Quixote Myosgard ,” a Celestial Dragon who keeps no slaves. A second on-page attachment of the Donquixote surname to Saint Myosgard (the redeemed Celestial Dragon of the Fish-Man Island flashback, @0625), after his @0907 self-reveal. Ch. 1086 p. 15 — the Donquixote World Noble Mjosgard is executed
St. Donquixote Mjosgard , the family’s present-day Celestial-Dragon member, is publicly executed at Sacred Mariejois for protecting fish-men — the Donquixote line’s World-Noble branch loses a member to the Holy Knights / Garling (VIZ caption “St. Donquixote Mjosgard”).
