Firsts
  • Trafalgar Law (age 10) is the sole survivor of Flevance, the destroyed 'White Town' kingdom of North Blue
  • White Lead — a metal mined from Flevance's bedrock — is a hereditary, accumulative poison ('White Lead Disease' / Amber Lead Syndrome) that shortens each generation's lifespan until Law's generation was fated to die in childhood
  • The World Government and Flevance's royalty knew white lead's true nature, hid it for profit, and the royals fled with WG help while the people were quarantined and massacred as 'infectious'
  • Law's family were doctors (his father 'the best doctor in the country'); his little sister Lammy and his parents all died in Flevance's fall
  • Doflamingo's 'law of blood': Corazon is his blood brother and untouchable — harming him means death by Doflamingo's hand
  • Law, newly taken into the Donquixote family at Spider Miles, stabs Corazon at the chapter's end — breaking the 'law of blood'

Summary

The Corazon flashback continues. At the Donquixote family’s hideout in Spider Miles, North Blue, the officers tease a freshly recruited, powerless ten-year-old Trafalgar Law, whom Doflamingo has placed under his brother Corazon. When Law sneezes the crew recoils — his pale, blotchy skin marks him as a carrier of White Lead Disease, and Law coldly recounts surviving the death of his homeland by hiding in a mound of bodies. Oda’s narration then tells the story of Flevance, the “White Town”: a fabulously wealthy North Blue kingdom built on white lead, a beautiful metal mined from its bedrock that is in fact a slow, hereditary poison. The World Government and Flevance’s own royalty knew its true nature a century ago but buried the truth for profit. As whole families died of the same symptoms, neighboring nations assumed the disease was contagious, quarantined the country, and — joined by the fled royals and the WG — gunned down fleeing citizens until war erupted and Flevance “crumbled to dust.” Law’s parents (both doctors) and his little sister Lammy all died; Law alone survived. Back in the present of the flashback, the broken boy fixates on murder, and at the chapter’s close he lunges and stabs Corazon — breaking Doflamingo’s “law of blood.”
