Summary
In the North Blue ~13 years ago, the Donquixote family sieges the Barrels Pirates’ hideout-town — sealed inside Doflamingo’s Birdcage — hunting the traitor Corazon and the stolen Op-Op Fruit. The family captures and tortures the long-mute Corazon, who finally speaks: he is Naval HQ Commander Rosinante, a Marine who infiltrated the family to stop Doflamingo’s atrocities. Confronting his brother, Doflamingo demands the fruit and the boy Law; Corazon reveals he already fed Law the Op-Op Fruit and smuggled him out of the cage under a Navy scout ship’s protection — curing Law of the Amber Lead death sentence and setting him free. Realizing Law now bears the “Ultimate Fruit,” Doflamingo vows to reclaim him and raise him to “die for my sake.” Doflamingo guns Corazon down. Dying, Corazon — who had hidden Law inside a treasure chest and silenced him with his sound-nullifying “Calm” power (“I LOVE YOU!!”) — gives his last instructions: walk away quiet, you’re free, no one can place limits on you now. Vice Admiral Tsuru’s battleship arrives, the town erupts in fire and explosions, and Law screams as the silence wears off.
