Summary

Two fronts on Elbaf. Above, at the Western Village feast, Nami returns from Aurust Castle fuming that she found no treasure (“gigantic diamonds! gold ingots! pearls!!”), a blonde giant guide narrates an “Adam Tree Tour” (the giants live in the branches of the tree Adam, whose vulnerabilities are fire and lightning — an old branch’s fire “never goes out,” so the burning branch-village of Haugen once had to be cut off entirely), Usopp drunkenly tries to draw Chief Jarul’s legendary sword “Excalibur,” and Jarul jokes his ideal type is “an older woman” — impossible, since he is the oldest person alive. Meanwhile a jester-like castle-builder giant secretly hauls back the injured Aurust Castle guards; Gerd examines them (compression fractures, a “small but powerful human weapon”) and pressures him, and he lets slip a report of an intruder “who looks like Red-Hair.” Below, in the Underworld, Luffy, Zoro and the goggled navigator Rodo arrive with the keys to free the chained Loki — only to find Loki brutally beaten and the giant beasts messed up (“something changed”). Zoro cuts Loki to confirm the wounds are real; Luffy resolves to save the dying giant, keeping one leg cuffed and fetching a doctor. Panicked village giants plunge down a failing lift toward the vanishing island clouds; Luffy catches them with a Gum-Gum Balloon. They frantically warn him that Loki is a treacherous “enemy of the world” who will kill a friend at a moment’s notice — and, right on cue, the “passed-out” Loki rises, breaks free, and seizes “Ragnir.”

• Loki is an “Oars-sized super-giant” — Rodo warns that if such a giant “starts raising hell… it’s going to be a major problem, even for Elbaph” (p. 10).
• Loki was attacked before the crew arrived. He is found grievously injured and bleeding, and the Underworld’s giant beasts are beaten — “this doesn’t match what you were saying… something changed” (pp. 8–9). Upstairs, a report circulates of an intruder at Aurust Castle “who looks like Red-Hair” (p. 7).
