Chapter 1144: A Time for Warriors

Summary

All across Elbaf, the giant children’s fears begin manifesting as real, rampaging monsters — each announced by a “What I’m Afraid Of” title-card (Lightning, Draugr, Fenrir, Ghost, Niddhoggr). Deep in the woods, Franky, Lilith and Bonney stumble on a colossal skull-shaped facility that “looks like pure science” and has stood for at least three millennia — a building even the giants have no record of. At the Western Village, Robin and Saul work to stop mind-controlled children from throwing themselves into a fire, while Robin briefs Chief Jarul that a Devil Fruit is behind the phenomena and that the culprits are likely the two human intruders reported at Aurust Castle — one of whom “looks like Red-Hair.” A broadcast goes out to “all of the Sun World”; elsewhere the Holy Knights Gunko and Sommers picnic unbothered. The giant defenders are overwhelmed until captains Dorry and Brogy, having sobered up, arrive and wipe out a wave of monsters with “Hakoku Sovereignty,” followed by “Ya the Mountain-Eater” charging in aboard the warship Great Erik, Svarr Edition. • An unknown Devil Fruit is turning the giant children’s personal fears into real monsters across all of Elbaf — each attack framed by a “What I’m Afraid Of” title-card: Lightning (p4), Draugr (p5), Fenrir (p12), Ghost and Niddhoggr (p13). The giants deduce it is Devil-Fruit work and that “those folks” (the intruders) are behind it (pp6–8, 12).
• A gigantic skull-shaped facility deep in Elbaf’s woods “looks like pure science,” “has been here for ages,” and by Bonney’s estimate has “stood here for at least three millennia” — “even in Elbaph, we have no record of what this building is” (pp2–3).
• The alert names the threat: two humans unrelated to the Straw Hat crew have infiltrated, spotted at Aurust Castle, and “an intruder who looks like Red-Hair” is in the castle (pp6–7, 9).

• Is “Ya the Mountain-Eater” a distinct new elder-warrior, or an alias of a known Elbaf giant?
