A revered giant elder of Elbaf, age 344 — one of two “former giant pirate crew captains (oldest warriors in the world), heroes of the giants” (pp. 12-13). Companion to Jarul. Supports Mother Carmel’s House of Lambs orphanage but reminds its children “we must not forget the fact that we are warriors.”

Etymology

ヨルル (Yoruru). Built as a deliberate twin to co-captain ヤルル Yaruru (Jarul) under Elbaf’s Norse/Scandinavian naming overlay (the giants map to Norse jötnar). The clearest layer is the water/waterfall motif: VIZ renders his epithet “Beardfall,” whose original 滝ひげのヨルル (Takihige no Yoruru) is literally “Waterfall-Beard Yoruru,” and his signature laugh echoes the onomatopoeia zabazaba (“cascading water”) — set against Jarul’s 山ひげ “Mountain-Beard.” No specific Norse figure is sourced for the given name itself, so the name-origin layer is held at medium confidence. Whole Cake Island — Jorul dies of Linlin’s rampage (Ch. 867)

• During young Linlin’s craving-rampage at the solstice festival, Jorul — Carmel’s battle companion of 300 years — is mortally wounded; a panicked bystander cries “Chief Beardfall’s dead?!” (p. 9) and the narration confirms “the giant hero Jorul died” (p. 9). His death — set against Carmel’s “miracle” — spreads the news of Linlin and Carmel across the giants’ settlements.
