Summary

Luffy paints the Straw Hat jolly roger onto Laboon’s forehead as a binding contract — “That mark is our contract!” The crew settles at Crocus’s Twin Cape lighthouse-camp for lunch and to plan the voyage. Nami discovers their compass spins wildly and Crocus delivers the chapter’s load-bearing exposition: the Grand Line cannot be navigated by ordinary compass because the islands’ magnetic fields override them; the only working instrument is the Log Pose, which records the magnetic field that connects one island to the next. The Grand Line is structured as seven routes radiating from the Red Line, all of which eventually converge on the same final island — Raftel — where only the Pirate King’s crew has ever landed. Mid-meal Luffy steals the bluefin Sanji prepared for Nami, sparking a Sanji-Nami-Luffy slapstick that ends with Nami punching the boys into the water and dropping the strangers’ Log Pose. Two beached strangers — Mr. 9 (a man in a tutu and crown) and Ms. Wednesday (a blue-haired woman) — beg to be returned home to a town called Whisky Peak; Crocus warns the Straw Hats not to trust them. Two Baroque Works animal-enforcers — Mr. 13 (a sea otter) and Ms. Friday (a vulture) — descend to punish the pair for failing the mission; the Straw Hats drive them off.
