Its bite infects the victim with virulent bacteria… It’s called the Five-Day Sickness!!! But Keschias are supposed to have been eradicated a hundred years ago. Were you traipsing around in a jungle on some prehistoric island with your belly exposed?”
Why it might matter. (1) Per-island endemic-fauna axis — confirms the Grand Line’s biome-isolation mechanic preserves species (including disease-vectors) that the wider world thinks are extinct; canonizes Little Garden as a living archive of the prehistoric. (2) The eradicated 100 years ago phrasing is a quiet thematic rhyme with the broader Void Century something-thought-erased-still-exists-where-history-froze register (poneglyphs, Skypiea’s lost civilization, Wano’s 200-year isolation).
