• At Robelu Town with Dr. Kureha (pp. 3-12). Tells the Strawhats-departure beat (“They must’ve… set sail by now”, p. 3) — Dalton + Kureha are the on-island leadership-tier now that Wapol is gone and the kingdom is nameless. Dalton sits cross-legged in his fur-trimmed cloak on the snowfield.
• Recognizes Luffy from the wanted poster (p. 4): “That’s him!! No mistake!!” / “There’s a bounty of 30 million berries on that boy’s head.” — first on-page Dalton-recognizes-Luffy-as-D.-bearer-via-wanted-poster register.

Drum Island (Ch. 153) — present at the send-off; Q-Corner SBS character-color: chestnut rice; unnecessary comments because he’s a nice person

• First present-day post-collapse on-page appearance. Small figure standing alongside Kureha at the snowfield (pp. 12-13) for the Chopper send-off. Survived the Ch. 138 avalanche-burial and Ch. 145 throne-room strike at Wapol; on-page implied to be the leadership-vacuum-filling civilian-guard leader.
• SBS Q-Corner character-color (p. 18). Oda confirms Dalton “does add unnecessary comments… because he’s a nice person” and that he loves chestnut rice. Drum Island (Ch. 151) — dynamite vest; ropeway-carriage assault; who cares about status flashback paid off

• Aboard the ropeway carriage with the Drum villagers (pp. 2-3) bound for Drum Castle via Dr. Kureha’s old house ropeway-line. Still wounded; head down in the car. The villagers refuse to let him fight alone: “We can’t let Dalton fight alone. He’s injured!!” / “We want to fight, too!!”. Dalton: “I understand, but this thing won’t move!!”
• Wapol-regime torture flashback (pp. 3-6). Chained Dalton in a cell, beaten and kicked by Wapol’s distended Baku-Baku metal-jaw mouth (GACK / KRUNCH / STOMP / DOOM). Wapol: “Remember your place, vassal!!!” / “So you think you’re some hero coming to save the people!!?” / “After a week in this cell, you’ll realize the error of your ways.” / “That crazy doctor deceived you. Drum Island (Ch. 149) — referenced only: Wapol names Dalton as a fellow half-beast Zoan

• Mentioned only — does not appear on-page. Wapol to Chopper (p. 5): “A half-beast, like Dalton!! You’re a reindeer-man!!” — first on-page villain-articulation that Dalton is a Zoan Devil Fruit user in the same class as Chopper. The Ch. 136 Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison on-page naming (where Wapol named Dalton’s fruit) is now reinforced as Wapol’s stable classificatory frame — Dalton’s Zoan status is the comparison-baseline by which Wapol reads Chopper’s. Drum Island (Ch. 147) — insurrection: Even if I have to become a villain myself

• Frozen alive but preserved (p. 3). Villagers shield him from Wapol’s incoming force with ‘Dalton’s still alive. He was frozen, that’s all!!’ — first on-page confirmation he survived the Ch. 146 Wapol reports him dead triad-framing (vault status remained alive per forward-canon; now on-page payoff).
• Bedridden but lucid (p. 5): ‘We should listen to fools like that more.’ — supports the lead Drum doctor’s one quack doctor taught us never to give up hope line against the villagers’ evil doctors accusation. • Refuses to stay down (p. 14, SWUMP!!) and pivots from protector-of-the-people to active insurrectionist: ‘If we don’t fight now, then when will we!?’ / ‘We must fight him now or live as slaves!!! This is our one chance to be free of that tyrant!!!’. The Ch. 134-141 protector register graduates into open call-to-arms.
• Signature Dalton doctrine (p. 15): ‘I’m going to fight, whatever the cost!!! Even if I have to become a villain myself!!!’ — explicit means-to-an-end moral self-recusal. First on-page articulation that Dalton is reportedly dead — Wapol counts him already eliminated in the witch + insurgent + Straw Hats triad framing of the local resistance.

Drum Island (Ch. 145) — flashback: Dalton’s defection from Wapol’s regime

Drum Island (Ch. 142) — flashback; Captain of Security under Wapol; World Council moral-awakening

• First on-page reveal that Dalton was an officer of Wapol’s regime — caption p. 4: “DALTON: CAPTAIN OF SECURITY, DRUM KINGDOM”. Sits in Wapol’s drawing-room across from Chess (Drum Kingdom Councilor) and Kuromarimo (Bailiff, Drum Kingdom). Brooding silently — “You’ve been acting strangely ever since the World Council.” (Chess to Dalton). Re-keys the Ch. 133 protector of this island canonization: Dalton’s protector-role was forged inside Wapol’s regime, not against it from the outside. • Witnessed the World Council at Mariejois (pp. 5-8). Accompanied King Wapol to Mariejois. Saw (a) Wapol refuse the WG’s Dragon-hunt as “a two-bit revolutionary” problem, (b) Nefertari Cobra rage at Wapol as “a short-sighted fool”, (c) Wapol stumble into 8-year-old Princess Vivi and call her “the unfortunate daughter of that worthless fool”. Vivi swallowed her anger to avoid escalation.
• Vivi-as-young-stateswoman voice-over (p. 8): “Knowing that, she controlled her anger. Such political shrewdness is surprising in one so young. I’m humbled. What an amazing girl!! At a council of world leaders such as that, the slightest provocation could start a war.” / “In Alabasta, a child of 10 puts the welfare of her country above her own feelings.” — Dalton’s moral-awakening register: the foreign-princess-child shames him into recognizing his own king’s failure. Pre-loads his eventual full break with Wapol.

Drum Island (Ch. 141) — wounded at Big Horn, reported dead

• Wounded off-page defending Big Horn against Wapol’s invasion (pp. 2-3). Big Horn villagers dig a buried body out of the snow as Zoro stands over the field of fallen foot-soldiers — “F-Find Dalton!! … Dalton!! Please don’t die!!” (p. 3).
• Reported dead at Drum Castle (p. 7) — Wapol’s officer: “Dalton’s heart has stopped beating!!!” / Bystanders: “We were too late.” / “How tragic!!” Wapol laughs the report off (“HA HA HA!! Mausoleum!!? For that charlatan!!?” — p. 7). First on-page Dalton-down beat — the people’s protector is reported dead within the chapter. Drum Island (Ch. 139) — buried by avalanche in Big Horn (referenced, off-page)

• Buried by avalanche in Big Horn (pp. 6-7) — referenced by civilians: “The avalanche buried Mr. Dalton!!”; Wapol-vassal-thugs declare “Dalton’s dead!!!”; civilians insist “Mr. Dalton wouldn’t die that easily!!!”. Dalton does not appear on-page this chapter; the village’s protector is removed at the exact moment Wapol’s vassal-network reactivates — first-act cliffhanger. Drum Island (Ch. 137) — at Bighorn during the avalanche

• At Bighorn during the avalanche evacuation; among the villagers shouting “Get out of the village!! Hurry!!!” (p. 2) and visible in the AAAAAAAH!!! villager-reaction spread (p. 16). Continues the protector-of-the-people register from Ch. 135 — leading the evacuation while Wapol abandons it. Drum Island (Ch. 136) — Zoan reveal, Three Officers backstory, regicide attempt

• Decapitates Wapol on-page (pp. 7-8) — appears mid-Wapol’s tirade and slashes off the king’s head in a single sword-stroke (SH-EEN / WUK!!). Steps forward and declares: “Go ahead and die. I came here to kill you.” The first action Dalton takes in his named chapter is regicide against the king he once served.
• Indicts Wapol’s medical-tyranny regime (pp. 11-12): “Instead of caring for your people, you held the sick of the nation hostage!! That is a crime!!! With every doctor in the whole country in your castle… the sick had to beg you for medical treatment!” Wapol shrugs: “Couldn’t be helped. • Reveals his loyalty-lineage (p. 12): “You are the son of the former king to whom I am indebted. I’d hoped that one day you’d come to your senses, but you never will!!!” — Dalton’s loyalty was to Wapol’s father, not Wapol. • Reveals his Devil Fruit — Ushi Ushi no Mi, Model: Bison (Ox-Ox Fruit, Bison Model) (pp. 13-14). When Wapol’s men open fire, Dalton transforms into a horned bison-hybrid form and dodges every bullet (SWIP SWIP SWIP), countering with a single FIDDLE BAM!!! fist-strike. Wapol screams “AAAAH! There it is! The Ox-Ox Fruit! Bison Model!!!” Bystanders canonize the classification: “That’s the devil fruit of the Zoan family / What power!!! Like a hurricane!!!” — first on-page Zoan in the series. Dalton’s bison hybrid-form is the first on-page Zoan hybrid-form. • The Three Officers past — Dalton was once a peer-enforcer with Chess and Kuromarimo (p. 15). Kuromarimo: “Once we were equals. They called us the ‘three officers.’ You have no chance against the two of us… We’ve known each other a long time!! Because we know your weaknesses!!!” Dalton’s current civilian-guard role is the defection-from-tyranny payoff: he turned against the king he served as an officer. • Renounces Wapol on-page in Zoan form (p. 15): “A country whose king runs off at the first sign of danger is better off without him!!! I’m sick of you people!!” — the chapter’s most direct articulation of the good-king/bad-king axis.
• Wounded by Chess’s arrow (pp. 15-17). The militia arrives (“Dalton!!! We’ll fight too!!!”); Chess draws his bow (KREEK) and shoots — DOOM — Dalton falls (THUD). Wapol gloats: “THEY are your weakness, kind Dalton.” The on-page demonstration is that Dalton can’t fight at full force when his own people are caught in the crossfire — Chess and Kuromarimo’s we know your weaknesses doctrine cashed.

This chapter establishes Dalton’s full lineage: civilian-guard captain (Ch. 133) → former commander of the Drum Kingdom militia (Ch. 136) → one of the Three Officers of King Wapol’s regime alongside Chess and Kuromarimo (Ch. 136) → personally indebted to Wapol’s father, the former king (Ch. 136) → defected when Wapol abandoned the nation (Ch. 134) → now leads the villagers’ anti-Wapol mobilization.

Drum Island (Ch. 135) — the people’s protector; the doctor-search

• Leads a bighorn-ram-sled rescue party across the snow searching for the island’s lone doctor (pp. 2-3). Conscientious to a fault — apologizes for failing to catch the doctor in time; the villagers reassure him (“It’s okay! It wasn’t your fault!!” / “There’s no need to apologize, Dalton!”).
• Laments the kingdom’s medical destitution: “If only this country had more doctors.” (p. 3) — the first on-page articulation of the Drum arc-premise (a former kingdom of doctors with one physician left).
• Reaches Cocoaweed and learns the doctor has already moved on, heading for Gyasta, a lakeside ice-skating town to the north (p. 16).
• When panicked villagers report a submersible ship’s crew has killed all the guards, they run to him — “Dalton, please save us!! We need your strength!!” — confirming Wapol’s return (“He’s back!!!! Drum Island (Ch. 134) — spokesman of Drum’s political history

• The spokesman who recounts the kingdom’s recent political history to the Straw Hats (pp. 2-6): how King Wapol abandoned the nation when invaders showed the pirates’ strength — “they fled like rats from a sinking ship!!” — and escaped to the sea; how the country was defeated without its army even attempting to fight; and that Wapol’s pirate identity is a cover while he scours the seas in search of this island to return.
• Articulates the citizens’ doctrine: “the restoration of the monarchy is the thing to be feared most. Which is why we fear Wapol’s return more than anything” and the goal to build a new… peaceful nation (pp. 5-6). See Drum Island Restoration Of Monarchy Most Feared Doctrine.
• The Cocoaweed townsfolk call for “Dalton! Dalton!” when they need a doctor or authority figure (p. 12) — marking him as a trusted community leader. His former role under Wapol’s regime is not detailed on-page this chapter.
